Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fredek Ziomboj!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Solomon Silva!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Ziomboj shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ziomboj is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Ziomboj circles away and we're back to standing.
Ziomboj circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ziomboj throws a nice looking combination but Silva bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Silva throws a head kick that Ziomboj semi-blocks.
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown. Ziomboj tries to sprawl out of it but Silva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ziomboj manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fredek Ziomboj has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Solomon Silva.
Silva bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Silva dodges the punch combination from Ziomboj.
Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ziomboj as he avoids it easily.
Fredek Ziomboj seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ziomboj cracks Silva with an uppercut from hell and Silva crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Ziomboj's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Silva is rocked!
It looks like Solomon Silva has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ziomboj stands up over Silva, holding on to his feet. Ziomboj throws the legs to one side and dives in with a huge shot that lands flush on the chin! Silva is out cold! Ziomboj lands a couple more shots and the ref tackles him out of the way! What a brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Fredek Ziomboj!
