Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Pellegrino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Milton Vessey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Milton Vessey will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kurt Pellegrino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Milton Vessey! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vessey lands a nice hook to Pellegrino's body. Pellegrino takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Vessey loads up on a big right hand but Pellegrino slips the punch. Vessey fails to land the takedown. Pellegrino takes a swing at Vessey's ribcage but misses. Pellegrino just misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vessey moves in looking to clinch but Pellegrino pushes him off. Pellegrino doesn't succeed with the takedown and Vessey counters with a stiff right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pellegrino misses with a takedown and Vessey counters with a takedown into side control. Vessey is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pellegrino has escaped the position, nice work there. Pellegrino tries to improve position but can't. Pellegrino can't do much from the bottom here. Vessey tries for a kimura but Pellegrino is defending well. Vessey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pellegrino is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Pellegrino sneaks out the side door and pushes Vessey away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pellegrino misses with the combination.
Vessey lands a really nice looking cross but Pellegrino seems unphased.
Vessey moves out of range of the strikes. Pellegrino throws the left hand but Vessey avoids the punch easily. Pellegrino misses with a takedown attempt and Vessey counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt Pellegrino. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pellegrino throws a wild body kick that Vessey sees coming a mile off. Pellegrino fails to land the takedown. Pellegrino uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Vessey. Vessey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pellegrino sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vessey somewhat. Vessey misses with an uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Vessey stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vessey wants it to stay on the feet. Pellegrino misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Pellegrino will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Pellegrino throws a chopping leg kick but Vessey manages to avoid taking any serious damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Milton Vessey dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
A telegraphed right hand from Vessey misses the target. Nice sprawl there from Pellegrino as Vessey shoots in. Pellegrino has his takedown stuffed and Vessey connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Pellegrino has his takedown stuffed and Vessey counters with a nice uppercut. Pellegrino needs to keep his hands up - Vessey had a free shot at his head there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pellegrino misses with a low kick as Vessey jumps back. Vessey throws out a loose jab but Pellegrino uses good head movement to avoid it. Pellegrino shoots and misses and Vessey cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt Pellegrino. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pellegrino thows a leg kick but Vessey checks it and Vessey counters with a one-two to the body.
Pellegrino is rocked! Pellegrino slips a straight right by Vessey. Vessey connects with a body shot. Pellegrino tries for a takedown but Vessey circles away easily and Vessey connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Oh Pellegrino is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pellegrino uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vessey. Pellegrino seems to have got his legs back now. Vessey bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Vessey wants to clinch. Pellegrino with a lazy takedown attempt and Vessey counters with a lovely straight right hand! Pellegrino misses with a double jab
and Vessey counters with a takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vessey is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pellegrino knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Pellegrino takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Vessey landing a few strikes. Vessey thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Pellegrino manages to get back to half guard. Vessey blocks the strikes from Pellegrino.
Vessey looking for a submission but Pellegrino manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Vessey trying to control the position from guard on top but Pellegrino is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pellegrino looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Vessey preventing the sweep. Vessey postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pellegrino is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vessey, into his guard. Pellegrino sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vessey's guard. Vessey blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pellegrino. Pellegrino trying to control the action but Vessey is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Milton Vessey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Pellegrino throws a lazy body kick and Vessey counters with a left and a right that stings Pellegrino. Vessey stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Vessey swings for the body but Pellegrino moves out of range.
Pellegrino is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vessey. Pellegrino shoots and misses and Vessey counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A shot to the body from Pellegrino misses and Vessey counters with a left to the body. Vessey misses with a straight right.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vessey throws a looping overhand right but Pellegrino ducks down to avoid it. Vessey lands the left hand. Pellegrino takes a body punch but keeps moving. No luck for Pellegrino with that takedown attempt. Vessey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pellegrino manages to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pellegrino shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Vessey counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt Pellegrino. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vessey throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pellegrino sees it coming and avoids it easily. Pellegrino dives in and grabs Vessey's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vessey pushes down on Pellegrino's head and hops out. Milton Vessey seems to be getting the better of the standup. Pellegrino closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Vessey is trying to control Pellegrino's posture but Pellegrino avoids it. Pellegrino looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pellegrino throwing shots but missing, from side control. Pellegrino wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vessey keeps working. Pellegrino tries for a kimura but Vessey is defending well. Pellegrino tries to advance to mount but Vessey denies him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Vessey gets back to half guard. Vessey trying to hold on to Pellegrino's head to control him but Pellegrino postures up.
Pellegrino is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pellegrino thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that's the end of the fight! Milton Vessey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Vessey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
