Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Henrique Aldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Matthew Kurose!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurose shoots in looking for a takedown. Aldo tries to sprawl out of it but Kurose keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Aldo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Aldo feints and then cracks Kurose's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kurose down.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kurose is defended easily by Aldo.
Aldo throws a nice looking combination but Kurose bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Aldo throws a sloppy head kick and Kurose moves out of range easily.
Kurose looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kurose changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aldo tries to avoid it but Kurose manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aldo to the ground. Aldo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Aldo moves into range and connects with a jab.
Kurose fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kurose fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Kurose tries to score a power double leg takedown but Aldo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kurose somewhat.
Aldo connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kurose momentarily.

Kurose has Aldo pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Aldo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Kurose drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Aldo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kurose has had enough of the clinch but Aldo keeps him there for the moment.

A nice left hand lands by Aldo.
Aldo lands a good knee to the midsection. Kurose won't want to take too many of those.

Kurose shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Aldo napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Kurose wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aldo keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kurose shoots for a takedown but Aldo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Aldo is bucking up trying to escape but Kurose cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Kurose is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Kurose extends the arm and Aldo is forced to tap!
