PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between nof nof (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolaj Raskolnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). nof is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, nof nof!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolaj Raskolnikov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
nof avoids a kick to the body.
nof is breathing heavily.
Raskolnikov misses with a few strikes there.
Raskolnikov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Raskolnikov scores a takedown into full mount!
nof stops Raskolnikov from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
nof is wriggling around trying to escape.
Raskolnikov lands with some strikes.

Raskolnikov gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Raskolnikov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
nof on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Raskolnikov takes a little break here. nof wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Raskolnikov lands a decent elbow from side control.

Raskolnikov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by nof, who protects the arm well.
nof prevents Raskolnikov from improving position.

Raskolnikov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Raskolnikov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Raskolnikov passes to full mount! That's big trouble for nof!

nof wants to control but Raskolnikov is having none of it.
nof is trying desperately to improve position.
Raskolnikov lands a big elbow.

Raskolnikov lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
nof is trying to escape the mount.
Raskolnikov is in the full mount, landing strikes.
nof wants to control but Raskolnikov is having none of it.
Raskolnikov looking to control and managing it successfully.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
nof tries to hold on but Raskolnikov postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
nof is looking to get to half guard.

Nikolaj Raskolnikov dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Raskolnikov wants to clinch up but nof keeps it at a distance.
nof stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Raskolnikov.

Raskolnikov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Raskolnikov lands in his opponent's guard.
Raskolnikov connects with a couple of short punches.

nof has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Raskolnikov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Raskolnikov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Let's hope that Raskolnikov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Raskolnikov tries to pass to full mount but nof defends it.
nof is looking to improve his position.
nof trying to control but Raskolnikov postures up.
Raskolnikov is controlling the pace.

nof manages to get to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Raskolnikov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
nof is trying to keep Raskolnikov in close.
Raskolnikov trying to control but nof is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
nof controls Raskolnikov momentarily but Raskolnikov frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nikolaj Raskolnikov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! nof's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Raskolnikov. No joy for nof on that attempt.

Raskolnikov clinches.

Raskolnikov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

nof wants to stand but Raskolnikov is controlling the position.
Raskolnikov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with nof. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
nof trying to keep a closed guard but Raskolnikov is proving a slippery customer.

nof looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Raskolnikov passes into side control.

nof is looking to regain half guard here but Raskolnikov keeps moving and retains side control.

Raskolnikov has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Raskolnikov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Raskolnikov showed some decent athleticism there.
Raskolnikov wants to lay and pray for a moment but nof keeps working.

nof wants to get back to full guard.
nof is trying to maintain the position but Raskolnikov is very close to passing his half guard.
Raskolnikov stalling.
Raskolnikov wants to get back to his feet.

Raskolnikov is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed nof to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Raskolnikov gets to his feet. nof looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Raskolnikov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. nof looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

nof is trying to get back to his feet.

Raskolnikov decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Raskolnikov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. nof looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
nof tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Raskolnikov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Raskolnikov is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Raskolnikov wants to lay and pray for a moment but nof keeps working.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nikolaj Raskolnikov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Raskolnikov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
