Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Still (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darth Nurple (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nurple has chosen Imperial March as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Still! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darth Nurple! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nurple pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nurple slips under a jab from Still. Still closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Nurple is trying to improve his position. Still working away. Still is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nurple knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Still is trying to get an arm triangle but Nurple is defending well. Nurple is trying to get back to half guard. Still thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Nurple is trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Still is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nurple has escaped the position, nice work there. Still creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Still working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Nurple is looking to regain half guard here but Still keeps moving and retains side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nurple manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Nurple wants to control but Still is keeping him busy. Still is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nurple pulls his head out easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Still works his way to full guard. Good work. Nurple stands up and waves to Still to follow him. Still ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Still throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nurple stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Still just misses with a punch to the body.
Nurple misses with a body kick. Nurple moves in looking to clinch but Still pushes him off. Still's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Still duly obliges. Some wild striking there from Still.
Nurple throws a solid leg kick but Still takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Nurple. Still throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nurple was covering up waiting for the punch and Still finishes the takedown easily into guard. Still preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Still slips nicely into half guard. Still lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Still is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nurple is just riding it out for now. Still eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Still wants to work for an arm triangle but Nurple is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Matt Still dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A looping hook to the body misses from Still. Nurple does a little dance to reset his feet. Still fails with a takedown attempt. Still throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Still throws a jab when Nurple was well out of range. Still darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Still thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nurple's head. The fighters are battling for position here. Nurple manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Still throws a big right hand that misses. Still looking to pass the guard. Still postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Still throws a big right hand that misses.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nurple is on top in guard.
Still manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nurple manages to get himself to full guard.
Nurple has control of Still's left arm, preventing Still from doing any damage. Still with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Still drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nurple manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Still has Nurple in his guard. Nurple must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Nurple wants to control from the top but Still keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nurple trying to stand up but can't free himself from Still's guard. Still has his foot on Nurple's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nurple works his way back into a safe position though. Nurple working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Nurple is in close to Still's body, working some short punches and elbows. Matt Still overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nurple has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Still is proving hard to escape from. Nurple works over Still with some ground and pound from guard. Still looking for a guillotine here but Nurple defends easily.
Still has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Nurple trying to control the position from guard on top but Still is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Still is looking to sweep but instead, Nurple has passed into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Still manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Still keeping moving, preventing Nurple from controlling successfully. Still bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nurple's guard. Nurple manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Still manages to get himself to full guard.
Still has his foot on Nurple's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nurple works his way back into a safe position though. Still working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nurple doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nurple manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Nurple tries to stand but Still is controlling from the bottom. Still preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Still escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nurple gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Nurple pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Still is keeping the position for now. Still is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nurple accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Nurple is pushing down on Still's leg trying to pass to half guard. Still is fighting to maintain full guard but Nurple has managed to sneak the leg through. Nurple decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Nurple lands with a cross. Still fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nurple manages to avoid it. Nurple tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Still paws at him with a jab and circles away. Nurple uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Still. Still lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Darth Nurple will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Nurple is looking to clinch. Still looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Still blocks a low kick nicely. Still avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Nurple slaps away a takedown attempt from Still, before circling back to the center of the mat. Still keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nurple. Still chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Nurple can pounce on him.
Still scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Nurple throws a hook to the side of Still's head but Still sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Still closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nurple did well to prevent Still getting side control. Still is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nurple sees it coming and defends easily. Still frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Nurple tries to hold on but Still pushes him away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Still with a couple of short strikes. Still working Nurple over with strikes here. Nurple working to try and regain half guard.
Still jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Nurple manages to avoid the submission attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Still throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Nurple tries to get back to half guard but can't. This fight is sponsored by Chainsaw 7. That's two minutes gone in the round. Nurple tries to bench press Still off him but Still keeps the position. The ground and pound from Still seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Nurple bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Still cracks Nurple with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. A slow jab from Still misses its intended target. Nurple walks into a stiff left hand from Still. Nurple stuffs the takedown. Nurple throws a nice looking combination but Still bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nurple throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Still shoots in for a takedown but Nurple shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Still. That's going to take a lot out of him. Still throws a hook to the side of Nurple's head but Nurple sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nurple throws a lazy right hand but Still sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Still gets the takedown into side control. Nurple manages to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Still wants to work for an arm triangle but Nurple is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Nurple moves into full guard.
Nurple tries to land a sweep but no joy. Nurple keeping moving, preventing Still from controlling successfully. Still forces his way into half guard. Still is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nurple doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Still. Still tries to pass the half guard into mount. Nurple knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Nurple is trying to maintain the position but Still is very close to passing his half guard. Nurple moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Still tries to free his leg and advance position but Nurple is retaining full guard. Still preventing the sweep.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Still checks the leg kick.
And that's the end of the fight! Matt Still showed his dominance in that final round. I think Still has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
