Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Eugene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chika Konga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eugene's entrance music is beer is good. A fine choice. Chika Konga has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with David Eugene's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Eugene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chika Konga!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Konga is defended easily by Eugene.
David Eugene seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Eugene looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Konga misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Konga shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Eugene napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Eugene gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Konga takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Konga's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Eugene tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Despite being in the dominant position, Chika Konga just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Konga can do anything to dispel that myth.

Konga is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Konga bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Eugene is trying to escape the position but Konga is controlling the position.

Konga scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Eugene to see if he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eugene is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Konga has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Konga decides to stand back up. Konga steps back and let's Eugene get back to his feet.
Konga tries to close the distance and clinch up but Eugene swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Eugene keeping moving, preventing Konga from controlling successfully.
Eugene wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Konga manages to pass to side control.
Konga is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Eugene reverses the position - he's now on top in Konga's guard.

Konga is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Eugene thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Konga is pulling down on Eugene's head. It's preventing any offense from Eugene, at least for the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Konga shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Konga was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Konga tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Konga can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Eugene is looking to escape.
Eugene is trying to stand up.

Eugene trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Konga lands a nice shot to the head.

BOOM! Konga connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eugene is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Eugene is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Konga tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Eugene is looking to improve his position but Konga isn't that keen on the idea.
Eugene wants to try and get back to his feet.
Konga controlling the position easily from mount.
Eugene's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Eugene is wriggling around trying to escape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Konga looking to control and managing it successfully.
Chika Konga has got the better of the ground game so far.
Let's hope that Konga has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
You get the feeling that Eugene really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Eugene is desperately trying to improve his position but Konga has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chika Konga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
