Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Christ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Bent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bent has chosen Dropkick Murphys - Im shipping up to Boston as his entrance music. Roy Bent has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Christ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Bent!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christ takes one on the button.
Bent fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Christ avoids it really well and circles away.
Bent swings for the body but Christ moves out of range.
Christ fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Christ shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bent napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bent manages to get back to half guard.
Christ knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bent on the ground.
Christ is thwarting Bent's attempts to control the position.

Bent actively working from the bottom here.
Bent trying to control but Christ postures up.
Bent is trying to get back to full guard.
Bent trying to control from the bottom.

Christ is looking to take a break and control but Bent is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Christ is taking a breather. Bent says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Christ thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bent's head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bent throws a combination that misses
and Christ counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Bent tries to clinch up but Christ circles away and keeps his distance.
Bent misses with a series of wild punches.
Bent scores with a shot to the body.

Bent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bent looks gassed!
Bent trying to stand up but can't free himself from Christ's guard.
Christ controls Bent momentarily but Bent frees himself.

Bent wants to pass the guard but Christ is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Christ working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bent doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bent manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Christ looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bent trying to control the position from guard on top but Christ is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Christ controlling the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bent on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Christ. Christ obviously looking to wear him down.
Bent has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Christ forces Bent back against the cage and clinches.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Christ.
Bent wants a takedown but no success here.
Christ is leaning against Bent and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Christ breaks the clinch.
Bent leaves Christ with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Bent tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Christ throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Bent throws a body punch but Christ moves out of range.
Christ shoots for a takedown but Bent saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Christ looks to land a combination but Bent avoids it well.
Bent keeps the fight on the outside.

Bent tries to keep at a distance but Christ has taken the fight into the clinch.

Christ manages to break the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A nice combination there by Christ.
Horrible takedown by Bent or perhaps it was just good defense by Christ which made him look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Christ dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Bent throws a combination that misses
and Christ makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Bent avoids a punch combination nicely.
Christ throws a series of punches but Bent avoids them all with ease.
Christ lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Christ drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Christ trying to control the position from guard on top but Bent is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bent wants to sweep here but Christ controlling him for the moment.
Bent is breathing heavily.
Bent preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Christ has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Christ stays in close to Bent's body and controls the position.
Christ pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bent is keeping the position for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Christ is working for takedown but Bent is calmly controlling the position for now.

Christ breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Christ looks to land a combination but Bent avoids it well.
Bent throws a series of punches but Christ avoids them all with ease.
John Christ seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Christ shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bent defends it nicely.
Bent tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Christ has Bent up against the cage in a clinch.

Christ ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Christ no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Christ throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Bent tries to free his leg and advance position but Christ is retaining full guard.

Bent postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Christ is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bent, into his guard.
Christ wanted to stand there but Bent had control of the position.
Bent preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Bent not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Christ postures up in Bent's guard and throws a big left but Bent blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Christ trying to control but Bent is working from the bottom.

Bent looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Christ slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Christ postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Christ misses with a few strikes there.
Bent will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Christ throws a leg kick which misses Bent's front leg but catches the back leg as Bent tries to avoid it.
Christ swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Christ dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Christ rushes Bent and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bent is trying to drag Christ to the mat but Christ just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Christ missing with knees to the body.
Christ lands a right hand that snaps the head of Bent backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Christ has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bent uses from the top position.
Christ looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bent is one step ahead there.
Christ is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bent takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Christ is looking for a triangle but Bent pushes his legs off easily.

Bent drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Christ dives on top into guard.

Christ slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Christ tries to stand but Bent is controlling from the bottom.
John Christ is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Christ trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Christ has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bent is proving hard to escape from.
Christ is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Bent is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bent stuffs the takedown attempt from Christ. Christ gets slowly back to his feet.

Bent misses with a two punch combination.

Christ bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bent is trying to get back to half guard.
Christ is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bent can do to turn this around?
Christ remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Check out the look on Christ's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Christ seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bent for as long as he can get away with.

Christ decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Christ tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bent sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Christ somewhat.

Christ has closed the distance and engaged Bent in a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Christ changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bent fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Roy Bent has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Christ. That's going to take a lot out of him.

John Christ showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Christ has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
