Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryosuke Takahashi! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rady Remigio! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Remigio feints and as Takahashi raises his hands in defense, Remigio changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Remigio throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Takahashi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Takahashi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Remigio defends it easily. Remigio wants to control from the top but Takahashi keeps moving. Remigio passes into half guard. Remigio is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Takahashi can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Takahashi tries to reverse the position but Remigio maintains control. Remigio landing strikes from the mount. Remigio with the ground and pound from mount. Takahashi is in a horrible position here. Remigio smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Rady Remigio dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Takahashi doesn't succeed with the takedown and Remigio counters with a three punch combo that has Takahashi backing up. Takahashi nods at Remigio to acknowledge the strikes. Remigio gets the takedown into side control. Remigio tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Takahashi tries to get back to half guard but can't. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Remigio working the head with strikes. Remigio working the head and body with strikes. Takahashi is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Remigio decides to stand up, so the ref orders Takahashi to his feet. A head kick misses from Remigio. Remigio drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Remigio working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Takahashi takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Takahashi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Remigio wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Takahashi sneaks back into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Takahashi looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Takahashi won't allow Remigio to pass to mount. Rady Remigio has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takahashi is defending against the submission attempts here by Remigio.
Takahashi makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Takahashi. Remigio avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Remigio keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Takahashi's head. Remigio wants to stand but Takahashi has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Remigio got a little sloppy there for a moment and Takahashi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Remigio has managed to get both his arms back between Takahashi's legs - danger averted. Remigio drops back looking for a leg! Takahashi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Takahashi manages to kick Remigio off! Remigio jumps back into Takahashi's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Remigio postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Takahashi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Remigio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Takahashi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Remigio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Takahashi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Remigio defends it easily. Takahashi is working an open guard so Remigio takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Remigio fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Takahashi sprawls well initially but Remigio persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Takahashi actively working from the bottom here. Takahashi looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Takahashi looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Nice strikes from Remigio there. Remigio looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rady Remigio showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Takahashi swats away the attempt to clinch by Remigio. Takahashi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Remigio counters with a single leg into guard. Takahashi didn't expect that. Remigio pushes down on Takahashi's leg and manages to get into half guard. Remigio looking for a submission but Takahashi manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Remigio must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Remigio is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Takahashi is just riding it out for now. Remigio eventually gives up the hold. Remigio has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Takahashi defend it? Remigio steps over the head and cranks it - Takahashi is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Remigio!
