PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Bair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bair is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Not Afraid-Eminem. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Derek Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Bair!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Williams misses.
Bair fails to land the takedown.
Williams throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Bair darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams wants to improve his position but Bair is controlling well.
Bair throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Williams moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Williams thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Bair stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Williams preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Bair missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Williams has his foot on Bair's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bair works his way back into a safe position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bair got a little sloppy there for a moment and Williams has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bair has managed to get both his arms back between Williams's legs - danger averted.
Bair trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.
Williams being controlled here, momentarily.

Williams throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bair escapes and throws Williams's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Williams is looking to regain half guard here but Bair keeps moving and retains side control.
Williams is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Williams is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bair is trying to control the action in half guard but Williams is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Williams tries to get to full guard but Bair has control of the leg.
Bair takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Williams throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Bair looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Williams!
Williams is breathing heavily.
Bair lands a heavy elbow.
Williams working to try and regain half guard.

Bair looking to control but Williams is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Bair landing strikes, looking to finish!
Bair is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Williams can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Williams tries to reverse the position but Bair maintains control.
Bair lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Bair is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Williams has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Williams tries to buck Bair off but he can't manage it.
Bair controlling the position easily from mount.
Williams throwing hammer fists to the chest of Bair. What's that going to do exactly?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Williams keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Williams throwing hammer fists to the chest of Bair. What's that going to do exactly?

Bair get's back to his feet.
Bair steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Williams.
Bair showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Williams.
Williams throws a hook to the side of Bair's head but Bair sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Bair looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Williams throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Bair dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bair shoots for a takedown but Williams saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Williams throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Williams misses with a series of wild punches.
Bair avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Derek Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bair shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Bair trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.

Williams is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Bair frees his head nicely. Oh but Williams has switched to an armbar! Bair is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
