Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benny Jarl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanford Blatch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Benny Jarl! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stanford Blatch! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jarl shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Blatch pinned against the cage. Blatch gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Stanford Blatch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jarl closes the distance and clinches. Jarl tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Blatch just stands there and leans against the cage. Jarl successfully pulls guard.
Blatch got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jarl has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blatch has managed to get both his arms back between Jarl's legs - danger averted. Jarl has his foot on Blatch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Blatch works his way back into a safe position though. Jarl escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blatch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Jarl looking for subs off his back but Blatch has passed one foot through into half guard.
Blatch wants to stand up but Jarl is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jarl is trying to get back to full guard. Jarl actively working from the bottom here. Jarl wants to get back to full guard. Jarl has one foot on Blatch's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Jarl shoots in for a takedown but Blatch shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benny Jarl. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jarl is breathing heavily. Blatch tries to clinch and Jarl counters with a nice double leg into side control. Blatch won't be happy with that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blatch is looking for a sweep. Blatch is pushing Jarl's head away, looking to escape. Jarl manages to hold on to the position though. Jarl is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blatch is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Jarl is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Blatch has escaped the position, nice work there. Blatch prevents Jarl from moving into mount. Jarl wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Blatch, who protects the arm well. Blatch is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jarl tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Horrible takedown by Jarl or perhaps it was just good defense by Blatch which made him look bad. Jarl tries to clinch up but Blatch circles away and keeps his distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Blatch slaps away a takedown attempt from Jarl, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jarl shoots for a double leg takedown but Blatch sprawls well. He's pushed Jarl's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Blatch gets in close and instigates a clinch. Nice elbow from Blatch. Blatch lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Nice elbow from Blatch.
It looks like Benny Jarl has been cut. Blatch lands an elbow just above Jarl 's eye. Jarl takes an elbow to the temple. Jarl jumps guard but Blatch stands there with Jarl around his waist. Jarl gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jarl pulls guard effortlessly. Blatch wanted to stand there but Jarl had control of the position. Jarl keeping moving, preventing Blatch from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Benny Jarl dominated that round. The cut man is working on Benny Jarl's cut. That's time! Jarl's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jarl fails in his attempt to clinch. Blatch tries to clinch but Jarl moves away and Jarl counters by moving into the clinch. Jarl fails to pull guard.

Blatch creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Jarl's defenses. Blatch lands a damaging elbow. Blatch misses with an elbow strike.
Blatch pushes off an throws an elbow but Jarl leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Jarl avoids the elbow strike from Blatch, against the cage.
Blatch lands an elbow that stopped Jarl in his tracks for a moment. Jarl avoids the elbow strike from Blatch, against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch. Jarl blocks the elbow strike.
Blatch throws an elbow that misses.
Blatch misses with an elbow strike.
Jarl tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Blatch smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benny Jarl. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jarl looks for a takedown but Blatch sprawls well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blatch wants to clinch and Jarl counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jarl. Jarl thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jarl won't allow Blatch to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blatch keeping moving, preventing Jarl from controlling successfully. Jarl pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Blatch is keeping the position for now. Blatch can't keep his opponent in guard - Jarl advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Blatch preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Jarl looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Jarl is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jarl is looking for a kimura here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jarl prevents Blatch from improving his position. Jarl wants to free his trapped foot but Blatch is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jarl working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Blatch's thigh. Blatch counters though and makes it back to full guard. Blatch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jarl. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jarl trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jarl closes this distance looking for a takedown but Blatch circles away. Blatch tries to clinch but fails miserably letting Jarl counter with a right hand. Jarl misses with a takedown attempt - Blatch sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Blatch wants to clinch but Jarl slips to the side and Jarl counters into the clinch. Nicely done. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jarl has a couple of punches blocked by Blatch.

Benny Jarl overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jarl drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jarl jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Jarl drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Blatch dives on top into guard. Jarl is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Blatch defends well. Jarl trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blatch wants to pass the guard but Jarl is keeping the position. Blatch's corner is telling him to maintain position. Blatch has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jarl is proving hard to escape from. Jarl is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jarl looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jarl on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jarl tries to get out of the position. Jarl is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Blatch trying to control the position from guard on top but Jarl is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jarl bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Blatch's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Blatch wants to sweep but no luck. Jarl drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Blatch manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jarl has Blatch in his guard. Blatch wants to stand but Jarl has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Blatch stopping the sweep attempt from Jarl. Jarl working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blatch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blatch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Jarl throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

And that's the end of the fight! Benny Jarl showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jarl, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
