Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Kelso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Kelso!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelso lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Miller circles away quickly and effectively.
Kelso tries to close the distance and clinch up but Miller swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Miller lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Kelso tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Miller swats away the attempt to clinch by Kelso.

Miller cracks Kelso with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Miller has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kelso to stand back up!


Kelso is rocked!


It looks like Michael Kelso has been cut.
Miller looks to land a combination but Kelso avoids it well.
Kelso slips a straight right by Miller.
Miller throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kelso closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kelso lands in his opponent's guard.
Miller is pulling down on Kelso's head. It's preventing any offense from Kelso, at least for the moment.
Kelso wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving.
Kelso postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Miller is trying to keep Kelso in close.
Miller has control of Kelso's left arm, preventing Kelso from doing any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Miller throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kelso throws a big shot that misses.
Miller is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kelso.
Kelso looks to land a combination but Miller avoids it well.
Kelso shoots in but no luck this time.
Miller moves away from the strike by Kelso.
Miller jabbing away but nothing is landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Miller counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Miller lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Miller. Kelso does a little dance to reset his feet.

Miller sends Kelso crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Miller is motioning to the referee to let Kelso up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Kelso throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kelso seems to have recovered his senses.

The fight stays on the outside here - Miller looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kelso takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Miller tries to land a front kick but Kelso steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Miller looks to land a combination but Kelso avoids it well.

and Miller counters with a good, hard body kick but Kelso shrugs it off.
Kelso moves in looking to clinch but Miller pushes him off.
Miller motions for Kelso to come forward. Miller throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Miller throws a series of punches but Kelso moves out of range.
Kelso darts in trying to clinch
and Kelso takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Miller circles away from the clinch attempt.
Miller sizes up Kelso with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Kelso tries to clinch but Miller moves away
and Miller cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kelso dives in and grabs Miller's left leg, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes down on Kelso's head and hops out.

Kelso is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
A clash of legs there as Kelso blocks the low kick.
Kelso tries to clinch but Miller is having none of it.

Kelso throws a lazy right hand but Miller sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Miller avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Kelso counters with a takedown into side control.
Kelso tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Miller wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kelso grinds an elbow into Miller's temple.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mike Miller.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Miller, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
