Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Fred Thomas! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it. Thomas lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Thomas connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Thomas throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Thomas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Thomas throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Thomas tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jones keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Thomas. Fred Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Thomas defends it nicely. Thomas throws a head kick that misses. Thomas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thomas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Thomas throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Thomas throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease. Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thomas's waist but Thomas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Thomas as he jumps to the side. Thomas leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thomas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones. Jones is breathing heavily. Thomas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fred Thomas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Thomas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Thomas dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jones takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Thomas throws a nice looking combination but Jones bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Thomas displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones. Thomas chopping away at his opponent's legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones avoids the head kick by Thomas.
Jones sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Thomas throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range. Thomas keeps Jones at a distance using the push kick. Jones has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Thomas finds it's way round the side to connect with Jones's head. Thomas scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Thomas throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease. Thomas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Jones crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Thomas - the referee stops the clock and Jones gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Thomas. Jones manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Thomas swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Thomas, right into the meat.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Thomas thows a left - swing and a miss! Thomas ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fred Thomas dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jones doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Jones gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Thomas tries a head kick but it misses.
Thomas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Thomas lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Thomas has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Thomas lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Thomas thuds a left hand into Jones's body. Nice cross by Thomas. Thomas fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jones. Thomas is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Jones rather than just go for the knockout. Jones is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Thomas cracks Jones with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Jones looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Thomas finish him?
Jones is rocked! Thomas grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Jones takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Thomas cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
