Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Austin Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen Du Hast- Rammstein as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Austin Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shane Smith! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee tries to clinch up. Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Smith wants to get back to his feet. Lee seems to be looking for submissions.
Lee is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Smith still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Smith has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Lee is breathing heavily. Smith tries to score with some ground and pound. Lee controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Lee on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lee tries to get out of the position. Smith wants to stand but Lee is controlling his arm. Smith wants to control but Lee is keeping him busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee tries to buck Smith off but Smith is having none of it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lee paws at him with a jab and circles away. Smith has closed the distance and engaged Lee in a clinch.
Lee gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Smith is looking to stand up but Lee isn't so interested in that idea. Leeis looking to pass into half guard but Smith pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Smith is in guard. Smith wants to pass the guard but Lee is keeping the position. Lee is looking for a triangle but Smith pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Lee to stand up. A punch combination from Smith misses. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Lee. Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Smith works over Lee's head and body with a nice combination. Horrible takedown by Lee or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith. Smith clinches up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Smith can't fight it off and eventually Lee manages to take the fight to the floor. Smith looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Smith looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Lee throws a big right hand that misses. Lee drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith! Lee is trying to control Smith's posture but Smith avoids it. Lee gets back to half guard. Lee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are battling for position here. Lee manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lee looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Lee wants to control but Smith passes easily into half guard.
Lee is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Smith pulls his head out easily. Lee makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Lee fails miserably with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Austin Lee dominated that round. That's time! Lee's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Smith connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Smith has his takedown stuffed so Lee counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Smith controls Lee momentarily but Lee frees himself. Smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lee kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Lee working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Smith's head. Lee postures up.
Lee wants to get up but he can't break Smith's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Lee is proving a slippery customer.
Lee prevents Smith from getting back to his feet. Smith manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action. Lee takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Austin Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lee is working to get back to half guard.
Lee is working hard here to advance position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smith trying to control but Lee is having none of it. Lee is bucking up trying to escape but Smith cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Smith landing strikes from the mount and Lee is in trouble! Smith avoids the attempt from Lee to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith tries to control but Lee wriggling away. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smith cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Lee tries to hold on but Smith pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee tries to reverse the position but Smith maintains control. Lee bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Smith keeping full guard, as Lee tries to pass. Lee passes Smith's left leg - he's now in half guard. Smith misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Smith wants to get back to his feet. Smith looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Lee is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Smith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lee's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lee's back! Lee can't escape the position.
Smith gets his hands free as Lee looks to control. Lee is in bad spot here.
Smith tries to get the hooks in deep but Lee pushed the leg off. Smith has the hooks in. Lee is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Smith is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Lee. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. I really don't envy Lee right now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Smith lands with some strikes. Lee wants to control but Smith is having none of it. Lee is trying to escape the mount.

Smith is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Smith tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Lee tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Lee is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lee avoid being mounted? Lee with the active half guard here but Smith passes nicely into side control. Smith stands up. Lee fails to land the takedown. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lee stuffs the takedown.
And that's the end of the fight! Shane Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
