Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Volette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreas Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Volette!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andreas Schmidt!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt is trying hard to land a takedown here. Volette sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Schmidt looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Volette darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Volette is looking to take a break and control but Schmidt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Volette takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Volette has Schmidt pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Volette pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Schmidt tumbling to the mat - Volette dives into Schmidt's guard.

Volette is working Schmidt over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Volette drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Volette jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Volette stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schmidt swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Volette has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Volette rushes Schmidt and presses him up against the cage.

Schmidt drags the fight down to the ground.

Schmidt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Schmidt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Volette counters with a big head kick but Schmidt shrugs it off.
Volette lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Volette.
Volette sizes up Schmidt with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Volette shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Schmidt has momentary wrist control but Volette slips an elbow through the middle.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Schmidt slips a jab and a cross from Volette.

Schmidt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Volette was covering up waiting for the punch and Schmidt finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Schmidt is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Volette is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Schmidt wants to control for a moment but Volette uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Volette has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Schmidt should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Volette has tightened it up now! Schmidt should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
