0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Samuel Adams! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adams fails with the takedown. Adams swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Adams fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Galvao shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Galvao is working for a kimura but Adams is defending it quite comfortably.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Galvao misses with a takedown so Adams counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Galvao keeping moving, preventing Adams from controlling successfully. Galvao bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Adams's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Adams has closed the distance and engaged Galvao in a clinch.
Galvao gets a trip takedown into half guard. Galvao moves into full mount! Adams won't be happy about that! Adams is trying to escape the mount.

Galvao is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Adams has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Adams! That's one minute gone in the round. Galvao gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Galvao is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Adams defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Anderson Galvao overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Adams showing good submission defense here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Adams tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Adams keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Galvao with shots to the head and body - Adams looks very uncomfortable down there. Adams tries to hold on but Galvao pushes him away. Adams can't escape the position.
Adams sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Adams is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Galvao pulls his head out easily. Galvao working over Adams with some ground and pound. Adams looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Adams tries to get to full guard but Galvao has control of the leg. Adams trying to get back to full guard but Galvao takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Adams tries to lock up and control but Galvao gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Adams is looking to get to half guard.

He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Adams turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Galvao off and cradles Adams's limp body as Galvao celebrates with his corner.
