Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pelle misses with a takedown attempt - Almeida sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pelle closes this distance looking for a takedown but Almeida circles away.
Minotaro Almeida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Almeida shoots and misses
and Pelle counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pelle.
Pelle is pressed up against the cage. Almeida has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pelle down to the mat. Pelle avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Almeida bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Pelle is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Almeida is controlling him well.
Almeida tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pelle's legs.
Pelle tries to escape but Almeida is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Almeida staying calm.
Pelle parries the strikes from Almeida easily there. Almeida is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pelle to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Almeida creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pelle sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Almeida decides to stand back up.
Pelle tries for a takedown but Almeida circles away easily
and Almeida counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Minotaro Almeida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaakko Pelle.
Almeida's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pelle has his feet on Almeida's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Almeida wants to clinch
and Pelle counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Pelle tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Almeida manages to pull guard.

Almeida pulls Pelle in to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Almeida working for a triangle but Pelle defends it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pelle avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Almeida is breathing heavily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pelle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Almeida wants to stand and escape but Pelle is having none of it.
Pelle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Pelle scoring with some ground and pound.

Pelle stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Almeida has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Pelle manages to get his head free but now Almeida has transitioned to an armbar! Pelle grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Almeida! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
