PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Blasko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gustavo Ribeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Blasko!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ribeiro feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Gustavo Ribeiro just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Ribeiro shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Blasko but Blasko pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ribeiro has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ribeiro is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Blasko is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Blasko is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Ribeiro has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Blasko is looking to defend but Ribeiro has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Blasko! Ribeiro pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Blasko taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gustavo Ribeiro!
