Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aliksandr Kowaljow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Diego Guerra!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guerra pushes Kowaljow up against the cage in a clinch.
Kowaljow looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Guerra ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Guerra no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Guerra pulls Kowaljow in to control the position.

Guerra wriggles free and stands up.
Aliksandr Kowaljow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Guerra misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kowaljow stuffs the takedown.
Kowaljow throws a series of punches but Guerra moves out of range.
Kowaljow will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Guerra misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kowaljow.
Kowaljow misses with a few strikes there.

Guerra shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Guerra stands and steps away. Kowaljow gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Guerra scores with a push kick.

Guerra darts in and clinches Kowaljow up against the cage.

Guerra decides to pull guard.
Guerra lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kowaljow!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guerra controlling the position easily from mount.
Kowaljow squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Kowaljow in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Guerra takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kowaljow is bucking up trying to escape but Guerra cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Guerra has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Kowaljow is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Diego Guerra!
