Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Park (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sheldon Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maia has chosen Basket Case as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Lucas Park has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sheldon Maia! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maia shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Park but Park pushes him off and we're back to square one. Park connects with a right hand. Maia shakes it off.
It looks like Sheldon Maia has been cut. Park pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Park stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. No luck with that takedown attempt from Maia. Maia changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Park looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Maia tries to move to mount but Park blocks the move with his legs. Maia thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Park tries to improve position but can't. Maia tries to move into full mount but can't pass Park's legs. Maia trying to control the position but Park is working away. Maia advances to full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maia prevents Park from getting the reversal.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maia with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Park tries to lock up and control but Maia gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Maia looking to control but Park is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Park is trying to escape the mount.

Maia jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Park manages to avoid the submission attempt. Maia trying to control the action but Park is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Park throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Maia misses with a takedown attempt - Park sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Lucas Park has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sheldon Maia. Maia gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Maia gets the takedown into side control. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Park is looking for a sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maia trying to control the position but Park is working away. Maia passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Park! Park is desperately trying to improve his position but Maia has a good base and remains in mount. Maia wants to take his opponent's back but Park doesn't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Park gets back to half guard. Park is breathing heavily. Park moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Maia looking to pass the guard. Maia is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Maia stands and throws Park's legs to the side, diving into side control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Maia tries to advance to mount but can't. Park tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maia works his way to his opponent's back.
Maia looking for the choke from the back. Maia has his arm under Park's chin here. Game over son! Maia squeezes tightly and Park is forced to tap out!
