Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Warren Sapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Austin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Austin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Warren Sapp!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sapp tries to clinch up but Austin circles away and keeps his distance.
Austin shoots for a double leg takedown but Sapp sprawls well. He's pushed Austin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Austin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sapp did well to prevent Austin getting side control.
Austin is thwarting Sapp's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sapp is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Austin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Austin's back!

Sapp slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Sapp is hanging on to Austin's back as he tries to escape.
Sapp is controlling the position but Austin somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Austin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sapp as he jumps to the side.

Austin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sapp misses with a two punch combination.
Sapp takes a swing at Austin's ribcage but misses.

Austin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sapp's half guard.
Sapp gets back to full guard.

Sapp tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Sapp is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Sapp tries to pull guard but Austin won't allow it.
The referee is keeping an eye on Austin - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Steve Austin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Warren Sapp.

Sapp tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Austin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

A close round but Warren Sapp will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Austin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sapp manages to avoid it.

Austin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Austin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Austin is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Sapp manages to get to full guard.

Sapp throws a right and a left that Austin avoids nicely.
Sapp shoots for a takedown but Austin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Sapp wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Austin has him pressed against the cage.

Austin has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sapp is trying to keep an underhook but Austin manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Sapp is not content to let Austin control the position.
Sapp makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sapp.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sapp is on top in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sapp won't allow Austin to get back to his feet.
Sapp postures up and lands a big shot to Austin's brow.
Austin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Austin looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Sapp trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Austin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sapp is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Austin.

and Austin counters with a shoot takedown. Sapp fights it but they end up in guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Austin wants to control his opponent's hands but Sapp gets his hands free.
Austin breaks Sapp's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Sapp throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Sapp manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Austin manages to get himself to full guard.

Austin controls Sapp momentarily but Sapp frees himself.
Sapp must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sapp is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Austin has his hands on Sapp's head, controlling the position.
Austin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Austin tries to get out of the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Sapp is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Austin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Austin!

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Steve Austin will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Austin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sapp is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Sapp is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Austin defends well.
Sapp controls Austin momentarily but Austin frees himself.
Austin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sapp is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Austin blocks a low kick nicely.
Sapp throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sapp slips a jab from Austin.
Austin motions for Sapp to come forward. Austin throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Austin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sapp to the mat! Sapp manages to get full guard.
Sapp is pulling down on Austin's head. It's preventing any offense from Austin, at least for the moment.
Austin wanted to stand there but Sapp had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Austin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sapp, up you get!

Sapp wants to stall.

Austin pulls guard effortlessly.
Sapp wants to control from the top but Austin keeps moving.
Austin controls Sapp momentarily but Sapp frees himself.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Steve Austin showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Austin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
