Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes into the arena with Rollin' blaring out of the sound system. Carter comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Celph titled - you aint seen it coming kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Christian Carter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Carter!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter swinging wilding here.

Jones darts in and clinches Carter up against the cage.
Carter is trying to break free.

Jones breaks from the clinch.
Carter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Jones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jones drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Carter gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Carter avoids the elbow strike from Jones, against the cage.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Carter misses with a series of wild punches.

and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carter's guard.

Jones gets to his feet - Carter follows without any prompting.
Christian Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Carter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carter throws an off balance right hand

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carter pinned against the cage. Carter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carter lands with a nice combination. Jones backs away looking to recover.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jones is working for takedown but Carter is calmly controlling the position for now.

Carter closes the distance but Jones moves to the side

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Jones escapes and gets back to his feet.

and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Carter didn't expect that.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Carter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jones won't allow Carter to get back to his feet.
Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Carter is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones keeps Carter at a distance using the push kick.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Carter shows good takedown defense.
Carter jabs Jones right on the nose. Jones blinks but takes it well.
Christian Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.
Jones jumps guard but Carter stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Carter has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment.

Jones manages to break the clinch.
Carter swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Carter fights it but they end up in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Carter throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jones misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Carter.

Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jones shoots in but no luck this time.

Carter wriggles free and stands up.

and Jones moves into the clinch.

Jones breaks from the clinch.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carter as he jumps to the side.
Carter throws a right and a left that both miss.

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.
Jones jumps guard but Carter stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Carter tries to break the clinch but Jones is controlling the position.
Jones is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Jones prevents Carter from breaking the clinch.

Jones gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Carter keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Carter throws a nice looking combination but Jones bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
No joy there for Carter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carter comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Carter rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.
Jones tries to pull guard but Carter won't allow it.
Jones drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carter pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jones shoots in and drives through. Carter sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carter falls off balance throwing a combination

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Carter's guard now.
Carter is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.

Jones gets to his feet. Carter looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Carter can do to turn this around?

Jones has Carter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch.

Jones has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Carter avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Carter is trying to break free.
Jones comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Jones manages to break the clinch.
Carter throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice sprawl there from Carter as Jones shoots in.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carter's waist but Carter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.

Jones pushes Carter up against the cage in a clinch.

Jones jumps guard.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Jones has his foot on Carter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carter works his way back into a safe position though.

Jones is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Christian Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carter throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones is looking to stand up but Carter isn't so interested in that idea.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tommy Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
