Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Javier Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Maicon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid leg kick lands there for Maicon.
Maicon moves into the clinch.
Hernandez tries to pull guard but Maicon holds him up against the cage and eventually Hernandez drops back down to his feet.
Hernandez tries for a takedown but Maicon manages to get underhooks.
Maicon gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Hernandez throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Maicon escapes and throws Hernandez's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Hernandez is trying to get back to half guard.
Hernandez is breathing heavily.

Hernandez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maicon on the ground.

Maicon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Hernandez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Maicon pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Maicon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hernandez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Maicon postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hernandez to stand up.
Hernandez takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hernandez gets caught flat footed, as Maicon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Maicon slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Hernandez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Maicon is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Hernandez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hernandez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

and Maicon counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hernandez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maicon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maicon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Maicon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hernandez is trying to defend but Maicon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hernandez is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Douglas Maicon just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Maicon stops Hernandez from getting back to his feet.

Maicon tries to close the distance and clinch but Hernandez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Maicon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hernandez napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Maicon tries for a kimura but Hernandez is defending well.
Hernandez sneaks out the side door and pushes Maicon away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Hernandez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Maicon. That did some damage!
Maicon throws a sloppy head kick and Hernandez moves out of range easily.
Maicon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hernandez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Maicon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hernandez's guard.
Maicon has gone for a leg lock! Hernandez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maicon's guard.
Hernandez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hernandez tries to free his leg and advance position but Maicon is retaining full guard.

Hernandez wants to control from the top but Maicon keeps moving.
Hernandez gets to his feet - Maicon follows without any prompting.
Maicon is looking to clinch but Hernandez is avoiding it.
Hernandez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maicon but Maicon pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Well Maicon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
