The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia tries to clinch there but McLovin circles away.
A good leg kick by McLovin.
Maia wants to clinch.
Maia walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Lyoto Maia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McLovin slaps away a takedown attempt from Maia, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Maia throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Maia throws a sloppy head kick and McLovin moves out of range easily.
McLovin scores with a nice right hand.

McLovin throws a series of punches but Maia avoids them all with ease.
McLovin misses with a few strikes there.
McLovin lands a lovely overhand right.
McLovin throws a leg kick but Maia moved away.
Maia doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Maia tries to close the distance and clinch but McLovin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Maia.

McLovin lands with a straight right. Maia didn't see that one coming.
McLovin attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

RJ McLovin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Maia throws a hook but McLovin avoids it easily.
McLovin connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Maia looks for a takedown but McLovin sprawls well.
Maia tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but McLovin paws at him with a jab and circles away.

McLovin comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Maia pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

and McLovin counters with a flying knee. Nice.
McLovin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Maia tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Maia takes one on the chin but seems OK.
McLovin lands a lovely overhand right.

Maia shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McLovin napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Maia is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McLovin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
McLovin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Maia is keen to just control but McLovin is a slippery customer.

McLovin is trying to stand back up but Maia is controlling him

McLovin tries to buck Maia off so he can stand up but Maia has got his back now - this could be big trouble! He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! McLovin falls backwards, slamming Maia to the mat but Maia holds on tight! McLovin is forced to tap and this one is all over!
