PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ball Kicker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and NewJack Warrior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ball Kicker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, NewJack Warrior!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warrior fails with a takedown attempt.
Warrior walks into a stiff left hand from Kicker.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kicker. Warrior does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kicker shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Warrior counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Warrior.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Warrior accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Warrior has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kicker keeping moving, preventing Warrior from controlling successfully.
Warrior wants to pass the guard but Kicker is keeping the position.
Kicker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kicker being controlled here, momentarily.
Warrior postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kicker keeping moving, preventing Warrior from controlling successfully.

Kicker looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Warrior forces his way into half guard.
Kicker tries to roll over but Warrior keeps him under control.
Warrior is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Warrior prevents Kicker from standing back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kicker wants to control but Warrior passes into side.
Kicker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Warrior wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Warrior landing strikes.

Warrior decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Kicker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kicker is breathing heavily.
Warrior slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Warrior has his hands on Kicker's head, controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Warrior is trying to keep Kicker in close.
Warrior thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Warrior tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Warrior is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kicker wanted to stand there but Warrior had control of the position.
Warrior is controlling Kicker's posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Warrior has his foot on Kicker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kicker works his way back into a safe position though.
Kicker tries to stand but Warrior is controlling from the bottom.
Kicker controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Warrior trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Kicker landing with the ground and pound.
Warrior manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

NewJack Warrior dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Warrior shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kicker counters with a nice double leg into side control. Warrior won't be happy with that.
Warrior tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kicker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kicker decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Kicker will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kicker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Warrior counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kicker won't be happy with that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Warrior controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Warrior landing strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Warrior happy to just control the position for now.
Kicker is trying to get back to half guard.
Warrior working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Warrior stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kicker crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Warrior - the referee stops the clock and Kicker gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Warrior. Kicker manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Warrior tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kicker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Warrior somewhat.

Warrior closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Warrior gets to mount! Kicker was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Kicker is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kicker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Warrior on the ground.
Warrior lands a big shot there that rocks Kicker but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Warrior punishing his opponent with strikes.
Warrior can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kicker is looking to escape.
NewJack Warrior has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Warrior with shots to the head and body - Kicker looks very uncomfortable down there.
Warrior is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kicker tries to hold on but Warrior pushes him away.
Warrior dominating with strikes here.
Kicker wants to control but Warrior is having none of it.
Kicker tries to improve his position but instead Warrior has taken his back!
Warrior has the hooks in. Kicker is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Warrior tries to get the hooks in deep but Kicker pushed the leg off.

Warrior is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Kicker taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Warrior.
