Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroki Yamamoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tyson Diaz! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz shoots in and drives through. Yamamoto sprawls well. Diaz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Diaz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Diaz looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. You can see the frustration on Yamamoto's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Diaz tries for a kimura but Yamamoto is defending well. Diaz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Diaz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Yamamoto wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Diaz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Yamamoto has escaped the position, nice work there. Diaz looks gassed! Yamamoto is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Diaz has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Diaz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yamamoto, who protects the arm well. Diaz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Yamamoto tries to buck Diaz off but Diaz is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yamamoto manages to get back to half guard. Diaz is working for a kimura but Yamamoto is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Yamamoto tries to kick Diaz off but Diaz keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Yamamoto has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Diaz is working away from the top position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Diaz seems to be looking for submissions.
Yamamoto is pressing down on Diaz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Diaz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Yamamoto looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Yamamoto looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Yamamoto! Yamamoto lands an elbow. Yamamoto tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Diaz takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyson Diaz dominated that round. That's time! Yamamoto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Yamamoto leaves Diaz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Diaz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Yamamoto to score an easy takedown into full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yamamoto connects with a couple of short punches. Yamamoto trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom. Yamamoto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yamamoto has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Yamamoto from controlling successfully. Yamamoto trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Diaz is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Yamamoto has his hands clasped together but Diaz extends an breaks Yamamoto's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Diaz.
