Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Stevenson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, jake Tyler!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyler tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stevenson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tyler somewhat.
A nice combination there by Stevenson.
It looks like jake Tyler has been cut.
Tyler shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stevenson as he jumps to the side.
Tyler dives in and grabs Stevenson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stevenson pushes down on Tyler's head and hops out.
Josh Stevenson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of jake Tyler.
Tyler wants to clinch.
Stevenson lands a left and a right that send Tyler crashing to the mat, dazed. Stevenson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Tyler is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stevenson drops Tyler with a right and a left! Stevenson comes rushing in but Tyler regains his composure and manages to keep Stevenson in guard.
Tyler is still in real trouble! Can Stevenson finish him?
Stevenson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tyler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stevenson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Tyler seems to have recovered his senses.
Tyler looks gassed!
Stevenson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Tyler shoots in looking for a takedown. Stevenson tries to sprawl out of it but Tyler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stevenson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
jake Tyler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tyler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Stevenson tries to escape but Tyler is in control.
Tyler landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Tyler in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Stevenson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Stevenson. Tyler shrugs it off though.
Stevenson closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Stevenson cracks Tyler with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Stevenson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Stevenson getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Stevenson.
Nice takedown defense from Stevenson. No joy for Tyler on that attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tyler on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Tyler walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Stevenson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Tyler avoids the head kick by Stevenson.
Stevenson keeps the fight on the outside.
Stevenson scores with a three punch combo!
Stevenson looks to land a combination. Tyler sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Tyler shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tyler showed some decent athleticism there.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tyler winds up and cracks Stevenson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Tyler not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Stevenson is trying to stand.
Tyler in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Stevenson tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Tyler!
