Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gus Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rickson Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
Gracie ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice defenses there by Jackson.
Jackson is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
Gracie lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Jackson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gracie throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jackson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Gracie counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gracie.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jackson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jackson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jackson!

Jackson stands up and beckons Gracie to his feet.

Gracie moves out of range as Jackson strikes.
Jackson slips a straight right by Gracie.
Gracie bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jackson's head.

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jackson's guard now.
Jackson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jackson tries to get out of the position.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.
Jackson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Gracie is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gracie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jackson tries to buck Gracie off but Gracie is having none of it.
Gracie tries to advance to mount but Jackson denies him.
Gracie is working Jackson over with some ground and pound from side control.
Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gracie lands a decent elbow from side control.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Jackson tries to escape but Gracie is in control.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Gracie throws and low kick but Jackson moves out of range easily.

Gracie goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jackson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Gracie's guard! Nice work there by Jackson!

Jackson wants to get up but he can't break Gracie's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.

Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Jackson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Gracie throws a strike but Jackson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jackson pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Jackson misses with a wild combination.
Jackson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jackson's waist but Jackson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.
Jackson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jackson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Jackson misses with a wild body shot.
Jackson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gracie is out of range and Jackson settles back down.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jackson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Gracie tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A right hook to the body lands for Jackson.
Jackson lands a hook that snaps the head of Gracie backwards.
A short right from Jackson on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gus Jackson dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Jackson throws a right and a left that Gracie avoids nicely.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gracie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jackson throws out a loose jab but Gracie uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gracie takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Jackson lands a really nice looking cross but Gracie seems unphased.
Gracie just misses with a punch to the body.
Jackson tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jackson's guard now.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position.

Gracie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gracie trying to move into half guard but instead Jackson has managed to sweep!

Jackson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rickson Gracie has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jackson gets to his feet. Gracie looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jackson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gracie manages to avoid it.
Jackson is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jackson throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Gracie attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Jackson loads up on a big right hand but Gracie slips the punch.
Jackson throws a nice head kick!
Jackson misses with a straight left.
Jackson thows a body shot but no joy.
Gracie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Gracie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jackson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Gracie has knee on belly momentarily but Jackson bucks him off and regains half guard.
Jackson is trying to stand up here but Gracie is controlling him well.
Gracie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Gracie seems to be looking for submissions.
Jackson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Gracie counters with a single leg into guard. Jackson didn't expect that.

I would just about give that final round to Rickson Gracie.
I think Gracie has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
