Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marco De Medici! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenshin Kawajiri! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kawajiri throws a series of punches but De Medici moves out of range. De Medici shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. De Medici looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. De Medici looking for a guillotine from mount but Kawajiri is having none of it. De Medici working for a submission but Kawajiri is keeping him at bay. Kawajiri regains half guard. Kawajiri is looking to escape. De Medici not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kawajiri wants to improve his position but De Medici is controlling well.
De Medici stops Kawajiri from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. De Medici seems to be working for a kimura but Kawajiri defends the submission attempt. De Medici has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kawajiri tries to hold on but De Medici postures up. De Medici working for a submission but Kawajiri is keeping him at bay. Kawajiri wants to hold on but De Medici pushes him away. Kawajiri tries to buck De Medici off but he can't manage it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kawajiri is trying to escape the mount.
De Medici looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. De Medici is breathing heavily. Kawajiri regains half guard. De Medici stops Kawajiri from getting back to his feet.
Kawajiri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De Medici. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kawajiri blocking the ground and pound attempt from De Medici. Kawajiri pushes De Medici off looking to stand but De Medici dives back in and keeps control.
De Medici looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kawajiri wants to get back to his feet.
Kawajiri is looking to control De Medici's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kawajiri avoid being mounted? Kawajiri is trying to stand back up but De Medici is controlling him
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kawajiri tries a head kick but it misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A head kick from Kawajiri lands but De Medici takes it in his stride. A slapping leg kick lands for De Medici.
Kawajiri throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. De Medici closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - De Medici lands in his opponent's guard. De Medici drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and De Medici jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kawajiri throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
De Medici drops back looking for a leg! Kawajiri is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kawajiri manages to kick De Medici off! De Medici jumps back into Kawajiri's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De Medici loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. De Medici thows a big elbow that misses. De Medici stops Kawajiri from standing up. Kawajiri pulls De Medici in close to prevent any damage.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kawajiri misses with a looping right. Kawajiri just misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kawajiri misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kawajiri throws a quick head kick that skims the top of De Medici's head. De Medici showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kawajiri.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kawajiri. De Medici tries to clinch but Kawajiri moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kawajiri throws a right and a left that De Medici avoids nicely. Kawajiri is looking to land body kicks. Kawajiri is breathing heavily. A combination from Kawajiri does no damage.

Kawajiri defends well against a solid takedown attempt from De Medici. Kawajiri tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Kawajiri showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from De Medici.

Kenshin Kawajiri is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. De Medici uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kawajiri. Kawajiri throws the left hand but De Medici avoids the punch easily. A head kick misses from Kawajiri. De Medici shoots in and drives through. Kawajiri sprawls well. Kawajiri works over De Medici's head and body with a nice combination. De Medici fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco De Medici. That's going to take a lot out of him. De Medici takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kawajiri. De Medici shrugs it off though. Kawajiri throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kawajiri misses with a series of wild punches.
De Medici on the wrong end of a nice hook. De Medici misses with a wild body shot. Kenshin Kawajiri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kawajiri throws a nice inside leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kawajiri attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Kenshin Kawajiri is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. De Medici avoids the head kick by Kawajiri.
Kawajiri misses with a double jab
and De Medici counters with a nice double leg into guard. De Medici stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kawajiri swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kawajiri is trying to control the position but De Medici postures up. Kawajiri might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control De Medici kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. De Medici tries to free his leg and advance position but Kawajiri is retaining full guard. De Medici throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kawajiri works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kawajiri manages to escape and get back to his feet.
De Medici wants to clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kenshin Kawajiri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
De Medici fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Kawajiri keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from De Medici. Kawajiri tries to land a front kick but De Medici steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Kawajiri thuds his shin into the meat of De Medici's side. De Medici takes a kick to the side of the head. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Kawajiri throws a lazy head kick and De Medici counters with a lovely shot to the body. A slapping body kick lands there for Kawajiri.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kawajiri looks for the body kick but De Medici saw that one coming. De Medici walks into a left hand. Kawajiri clobbers De Medici with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Kawajiri throws a wild body kick that De Medici sees coming a mile off. Kawajiri scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Kawajiri throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kawajiri misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kawajiri tried to score with a low kick but De Medici checks it. Kawajiri throws a leg kick which misses De Medici's front leg but catches the back leg as De Medici tries to avoid it.

Jab from Kawajiri. Kawajiri connects with a high kick. Kenshin Kawajiri seems to be getting the better of the standup. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kawajiri. De Medici avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kawajiri lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. De Medici is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawajiri lands a two punch combo.

De Medici throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kawajiri loads up on a big right hand but De Medici slips the punch. Kawajiri throws a sloppy head kick and De Medici moves out of range easily. Kawajiri tries a head kick but it misses.
De Medici throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Kawajiri steps to the side to avoid the strikes from De Medici. Kawajiri swings and misses with a shot to the body and De Medici holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Kawajiri has had enough of the clinch but De Medici keeps him there for the moment. Kawajiri has had enough of the clinch but De Medici keeps him there for the moment. A frustrated look appears on Kawajiri's face as he tries to break the clinch. Kawajiri wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but De Medici has him pressed against the cage. Kawajiri with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
De Medici looking to slow down the pace here. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from De Medici. Kawajiri wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
And that's the end of the fight! Kenshin Kawajiri comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Kawajiri has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
