Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Absten Brews! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ricardo Moreira! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moreira throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Brews misses with a takedown attempt - Moreira sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Moreira tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brews swivels and escapes. Brews doesn't manage to clinch there - Moreira circles away.
Brews shoots and misses and Moreira cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Moreira fails to land with a series of punches.
Brews misses with a takedown and Moreira counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Absten Brews. That's going to take a lot out of him. Moreira misses with a few strikes there.
Brews with a lazy takedown attempt and Moreira counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Brews is rocked! Brews really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Moreira lands a couple of elbows. Oh Brews is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Moreira content to stall in guard here. Moreira works over Brews with some ground and pound from guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moreira's corner is telling him to maintain position. Brews seems to have got his legs back now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moreira wants to control from the top but Brews keeps moving. Moreira controls from within his opponent's guard. Brews has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Moreira must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Brews's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Moreira preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Moreira is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Brews will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Despite being in the dominant position, Ricardo Moreira just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Brews is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Moreira.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moreira fails with a takedown attempt. Brews tries to clinch up and Moreira counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Brews thinking. Brews throws out a loose jab but Moreira uses good head movement to avoid it. Brews swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Moreira counters with a shoot takedown. Brews fights it but they end up in guard. Moreira controlling from the top position. Brews working a defensive guard here.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Brews had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Moreira defends it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Moreira is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Moreira missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Moreira is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Brews trying to keep a closed guard but Moreira is proving a slippery customer.
Moreira slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Brews is trying to control the position but Moreira postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A nice inside leg kick there by Brews. That's going to slow Moreira down. Moreira misses with a jab, cross combination.
Brews takes a body punch but keeps moving. I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Moreira has cracked Brews with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Moreira lands another huge swinging hook and Brews tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Brews, before Moreira can land any more shots!
