The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kinkel closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Kinkel has Jahkvilk pressed against the cage.
Jahkvilk tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kinkel avoids it. Jahkvilk is looking to break free of the clinch but Kinkel has double underhooks. Jahkvilk goes for a takedown attempt but Kinkel pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Jahkvilk throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Kinkel misses with a hook to the body
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Kinkel looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Jahkvilk is not content to let Kinkel control the position. Jahkvilk tries to get to full guard but Kinkel has control of the leg. Jahkvilk wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jahkvilk trying to control but Kinkel postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jahkvilk tries to roll over but Kinkel keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kinkel is trying to control the action in half guard but Jahkvilk is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Kinkel sitting and controlling from the half guard. Jahkvilk is staying active underneath Kinkel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kinkel drives through and clinches with Jahkvilk against the cage.

Jahkvilk is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kinkel is looking to stand up but Jahkvilk isn't so interested in that idea. Kinkel is wriggling around but Jahkvilk manages to pass to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jahkvilk decides to stand and escape the position. Jahkvilk displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kinkel. Jahkvilk scores with a body shot.
Jahkvilk gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kinkel counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kinkel trying to pass the guard but Jahkvilk defending well. Kinkel not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kinkel wants to stand up but Jahkvilk is controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kinkel thows a huge punch but Jahkvilk dodges it nicely.
Kinkel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jahkvilk keeps working. Jahkvilk wants to improve his position but Kinkel is controlling well.
It looks like Kinkel is going to stand back up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Kinkel fails to land with a series of punches.
Kinkel closes the distance and clinches. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Kinkel dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Jahkvilk tries to clinch and Kinkel counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jahkvilk won't be happy with that. Jahkvilk tries to get back to half guard but can't. Kinkel working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Kinkel tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Kinkel throws an elbow but Jahkvilk slips to the side and avoids it well. Kinkel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jahkvilk keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kinkel advances to full mount. Kinkel wants to control the pace but Jahkvilk is squirming around nicely. Kinkel thowing shots but they're missing. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Kinkel landing strikes from the mount. Kinkel postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jahkvilk looks a forlorn figure.
Kinkel is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jahkvilk can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Kinkel tries to control but Jahkvilk wriggling away. Kinkel landing strikes from the mount and Jahkvilk is in trouble! Kinkel lands a big shot there that rocks Jahkvilk but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Jahkvilk is breathing heavily. Jahkvilk throwing hammer fists to the chest of Kinkel. What's that going to do exactly?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jahkvilk tries to hold on but Kinkel pushes him away. Kinkel looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Kinkel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jahkvilk is looking to escape. Kinkel is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jahkvilk has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kinkel content just to control the position here. Kinkel breaks from Jahkvilk's wrist control and lands an elbow. Kinkel lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Kinkel trying to control but Jahkvilk is having none of it. Kinkel has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jahkvilk's face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kinkel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jahkvilk struggling a bit here. Kinkel is looking to take a break and control but Jahkvilk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jahkvilk is looking for a sweep. Kinkel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jahkvilk keeps working. Kinkel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jahkvilk knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Kinkel wants to control but Jahkvilk is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jahkvilk prevents Kinkel from moving into mount. Jahkvilk is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Jahkvilk takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Kinkel closes the distance and clinches. Jahkvilk being controlled against the cage. Jahkvilk tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Jahkvilk looking for a takedown. Jahkvilk prevents the takedown attempt.
Kinkel drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jahkvilk gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A battle for position here, against the cage. Kinkel just leaning against Jahkvilk, taking a breather. Kinkel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nice sprawl there from Jahkvilk as Kinkel shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Kinkel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jahkvilk tries to clinch but fails miserably and Kinkel counters with a takedown into side control. Kinkel wants to control but Jahkvilk is keeping him busy. Kinkel stands up and beckons Jahkvilk to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kinkel closes the distance and clinches. Jahkvilk drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kinkel ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kinkel no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Kinkel has his foot on Jahkvilk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jahkvilk works his way back into a safe position though. Kinkel controls Jahkvilk momentarily but Jahkvilk frees himself. Jahkvilk wants to stand but Kinkel has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Kinkel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Kinkel throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Kinkel trying to control the position.
Kinkel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jahkvilk defends it easily. Jahkvilk has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kinkel is proving hard to escape from. Wandlish Jahkvilk has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jake Kinkel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kinkel.
And that's the end of the fight! Jake Kinkel showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kinkel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
