PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tsorka Vladium (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shane Jackson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tsorka Vladium!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shane Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Vladium checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Jackson tries to clinch there but Vladium circles away.
Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet.
Vladium avoids the body shot from Jackson.
Vladium changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Vladium manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jackson takes a swing at Vladium's ribcage but misses.

Jackson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jackson passes Vladium's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Vladium wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson trying to control from Vladium's half guard. Vladium has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Jackson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Jackson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Vladium could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Vladium trying to control but Jackson flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Vladium is trying to get back to his feet but Jackson has full control of the position and if anything, Vladium has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Jackson is trying to control but Vladium is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Vladium is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Vladium really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jackson is stalling here but it's allowed Vladium to get half guard.
Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vladium does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jackson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jackson misses with a takedown

and Vladium counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jackson's guard now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vladium postures up in Jackson's guard and throws a big left but Jackson blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Shane Jackson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jackson looks to clinch

and Vladium counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Jackson looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Vladium is looking to advance position but Jackson won't allow it.
Well, if Vladium is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jackson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vladium's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vladium's back!

Vladium avoids the strikes from Jackson.
Vladium might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jackson doesn't have the hooks in and Vladium manages to turn into his guard.
Vladium tries to stand but Jackson is controlling from the bottom.
Vladium tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.
Jackson can't keep his opponent in guard - Vladium advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vladium working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Jackson's thigh. Jackson counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Vladium loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jackson has his foot on Vladium's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vladium works his way back into a safe position though.
Vladium stands and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jackson is looking for a sweep.

Vladium stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Jackson with a lazy takedown attempt

and Vladium counters with a takedown into side control.

Vladium decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jackson to his feet.
Vladium shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson tries for a takedown but Vladium circles away easily

and Vladium counters with a shoot takedown. Jackson fights it but they end up in guard.

Vladium stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jackson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vladium is trying to stand back up but Jackson is controlling him
Jackson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tsorka Vladium dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Vladium misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jackson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Vladium counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Vladium looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Vladium decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

and Jackson counters by moving into the clinch.

Jackson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Vladium clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Jackson has his opponent's back but Vladium is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Jackson.

Jackson misses with a head kick.
Vladium shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jackson counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tsorka Vladium. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vladium is looking to reverse the position.

Jackson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson tries to clinch but Vladium moves away

and Vladium counters with a shoot takedown. Jackson fights it but they end up in guard.
Vladium is looking to stand up but Jackson won't let him.
Jackson controlling the position.
Vladium trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom.
Jackson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Vladium puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Vladium prevents Jackson from improving his position.

Jackson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vladium pulls his head out easily.
Jackson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vladium wants to free his trapped foot but Jackson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Vladium frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Vladium controlling from mount.
Jackson taking shots to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vladium looking to control but Jackson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tsorka Vladium.
I think Vladium has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
