Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Captian Cronic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Safari Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Captian Cronic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Safari Man!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cronic looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Man is fending him off so far but Cronic persists. Nope, Man circles away and we're back to standing.
Cronic shoots for a double leg takedown but Man sprawls well. He's pushed Cronic's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Man throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cronic.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Captian Cronic. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cronic looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Horrible takedown by Cronic or perhaps it was just good defense by Man which made him look bad.

Man closes the distance and clinches.
Cronic tries to score a body lock takedown but Man shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Cronic throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Man keeps control of Cronic as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Man pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cronic avoids the head kick by Man.
Cronic fails with the takedown.

Cronic takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Danga de danga de dang - Man scores with a four punch combination!

Man fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cronic sprawls well initially but Man persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cronic on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cronic tries to get out of the position.
It looks like Man is going to stand back up.
Man thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Man winds up and cracks Cronic with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
It looks like Man is going to stand back up.
Man trying to control from half guard but Cronic is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Man is looking to stall here but Cronic recovers full guard.
Man lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Cronic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Man on the ground.

Man is in close to Cronic's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Cronic trying to control the position.
Man with a flurry of punches that miss.
Man tries to stand but Cronic is controlling from the bottom.
Man is looking to work some ground and pound but Cronic has wrist control.
Man is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Cronic looking for a sweep. Not yet Cronic, not yet.
Man wants to get up but he can't break Cronic's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Man looks gassed!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cronic throws a sloppy head kick
and Man counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Cronic throws a head kick but Man moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Man is looking to clinch but Cronic is avoiding it.
Cronic tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Man counters with a head kick. That will keep Cronic thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Cronic throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Man was covering up waiting for the punch and Cronic finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cronic trying to control but Man is working from the bottom.
Man is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cronic is controlling him.
Man not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cronic wants to control from the top but Man keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cronic controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cronic wants to pass the guard but Man is keeping the position.
Man trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Man keeping moving, preventing Cronic from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cronic gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Man counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Horrible takedown by Cronic or perhaps it was just good defense by Man which made him look bad.
Man misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Safari Man dominated that round.
That's time! Cronic's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A big right from Cronic misses.
Man tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cronic swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cronic throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Man counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cronic's knee momentarily.
Man pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Man throws a head kick that misses.

Man decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Cronic controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Cronic wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cronic looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Man is looking for a kimura but Cronic is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Man to get the leverage.
Man stops Cronic from getting back to his feet.
Cronic keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Cronic kicks Man off and gets back to his feet.
Cronic misses with the body kick
and Man counters with an outside leg kick.
Cronic falls off balance throwing a combination
and Man counters with a big head kick but Cronic shrugs it off.
Man tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cronic paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cronic with a lazy takedown attempt
and Man counters with a two punch combo.

Man clinches up against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Cronic jumps guard but Man stands there with Cronic around his waist. Cronic gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Man can't get the takedown.
Cronic stalls.
Cronic jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Man walks away with a smile on his face. Cronic gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Captian Cronic. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Man swinging wildly here.

Man slaps away a takedown attempt from Cronic, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Man throws a head kick that misses.
Cronic misses with a double jab
and Man counters with a head kick.
Cronic closes the distance but Man moves to the side
and Man counters with a good, hard body kick but Cronic shrugs it off.
Captian Cronic is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cronic just misses with a punch to the body.
Man displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cronic.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cronic misses with a takedown attempt
and Man counters with a series of strikes. Cronic will be more careful next time no doubt.
Cronic takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Cronic closes the distance looking to clinch
and Man counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Cronic fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Cronic takes a kick to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cronic shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Man pinned against the cage. Man gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Cronic misses with a takedown

and Man counters by clinching up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Safari Man showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Cronic tries to keep at a distance but Man has taken the fight into the clinch.

Man gets control of Cronic's arms and successfully pulls guard. Man will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Man has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cronic postures up.
Cronic won't allow Man to sweep him here.
Man doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cronic lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Man throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Man throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Man has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Cronic doesn't defend quickly enough and Man has managed to lock this one up! Can Cronic escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Man on a fantastic submission victory.
