Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Teemu Ruutu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kerma Pekoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruutu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pekoni as he avoids it easily. Kerma Pekoni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pekoni shoots in and bounces Ruutu off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Pekoni looking to pass the guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Ruutu looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pekoni is one step ahead there. Ruutu throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pekoni looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Pekoni gets to mount! Ruutu was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Ruutu is trying to reverse the position but instead Pekoni has taken his back - oops! Ruutu is in bad spot here.

Good control from Pekoni. Pekoni's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Ruutu trying to control the hands but Pekoni won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. You can see the frustration on Ruutu's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Will Pekoni go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Pekoni just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Ruutu defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Pekoni's arms. Pekoni has good solid back control here. Ruutu is taking damage to the body and head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pekoni is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Let's hope that Pekoni has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Ruutu is trying to break free.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ruutu is working hard here to advance position. Pekoni dominating with strikes here. Ruutu is looking to improve his position but Pekoni isn't that keen on the idea. Ruutu is trying to reverse the position but instead Pekoni has taken his back - oops! Ruutu wants to control his opponent's hands but Pekoni gets his hands free. Ruutu tries to break free.
Pekoni is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Kerma Pekoni dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ruutu misses with a takedown attempt and Pekoni counters with a takedown into side control. A lull in the action here as Pekoni stalls from top position. Pekoni works to advance to full mount. Ruutu defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Pekoni looking to control and managing it successfully. Pekoni working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Ruutu tries to hold on but Pekoni pushes him away. Pekoni controlling from the full mount. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kerma Pekoni just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ruutu with a poor takedown and Pekoni counters with a single leg into guard. Ruutu didn't expect that. Ruutu has an active guard here but Pekoni has managed to pass into half guard.
Ruutu is trying to get back to full guard. Pekoni seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ruutu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Pekoni wants to pass the guard but Ruutu is defending well. Ruutu trying to control here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Ruutu misses with a takedown and Pekoni counters with a single leg into guard. Ruutu didn't expect that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Teemu Ruutu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruutu keeping moving, preventing Pekoni from controlling successfully. Ruutu thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Ruutu working a defensive guard here.
Ruutu lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pekoni! The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Ruutu controlling the pace for now. Ruutu can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pekoni is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruutu goes for an armbar but Pekoni turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Pekoni. Pekoni trying to control but Ruutu is working from the bottom. Ruutu wants to sweep here but Pekoni controlling him for the moment. Pekoni wants to control from the top but Ruutu keeps moving. Ruutu is trying to control the position but Pekoni postures up. Pekoni stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ruutu swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ruutu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pekoni can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pekoni is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Pekoni wants to stand but Ruutu is controlling his posture from full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Pekoni tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ruutu swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pekoni has his takedown stuffed and Ruutu counters with a takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kerma Pekoni showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Ruutu doesn't succeed with the takedown and Pekoni counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Pekoni seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Pekoni works his foot free and advances to mount.

Pekoni controlling his opponent. Pekoni can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ruutu is looking to escape. Ruutu looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! The referee is taking a good look at Ruutu as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Pekoni!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pekoni has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ruutu's body.
Ruutu wants to control his opponent's hands but Pekoni gets his hands free. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Pekoni's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Pekoni connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Ruutu to escape the position.

And that's the end of the fight! Kerma Pekoni comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Pekoni has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
