Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Dirksen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Vince Jones! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dirksen throws the left hand but Jones avoids the punch easily. Jones checks a low kick from Dirksen. Dirksen connects with the punch. Jones ducks under a wild hook from Dirksen. Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dirksen's waist but Dirksen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side. Jones has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jones there as he acknowledges the shot. Dirksen misses with an uppercut. Jones saw that one coming. Dirksen throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range. Dirksen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Dirksen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jones shoots in but no luck this time. Dirksen throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A big left from Jones misses. Dirksen has Jones up against the cage in a clinch.
Dirksen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Dirksen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jones throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dirksen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that. An elbow from Dirksen crashes against the mat.
Dirksen prevents Jones from escaping the position. Dirksen throws a strike aimed at the side of Jones's head but Jones avoids it well. Dirksen working the strikes but Jones uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Jones is trying to get back to full guard. Jones kicks Dirksen off and gets back to his feet. Jones looks gassed! Dirksen falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Dirksen backing up. Dirksen nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes. Dirksen clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dirksen works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Dirksen throws a strike but Jones rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Jones won't allow Dirksen to sweep him here. Jones works a leg free and moves into half guard. Jones blocks the strikes from Dirksen.

Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Dirksen wants to control but Jones passes into side.
Jones avoids the strikes from the bottom by Dirksen. Dirksen tries to buck Jones off but Jones is having none of it. Jones throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. You can see the frustration on Dirksen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Dirksen loads up on a big right hand but Jones slips the punch. Dirksen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Dirksen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dirksen gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Dirksen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dirksen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively. Dirksen scores with a nice right hand.

Jones slips a straight right by Dirksen. Jones throws a right hand that Dirksen ducks under and follows up with a left that Dirksen also avoids with ease. Dirksen misses with a body punch
and Jones counters with a one-two to the body. Jones dodges the punch combination from Dirksen.

Jason Dirksen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jones slips under a jab. Jones slips a jab from Dirksen. Jones tries to grapple but his opponent circles The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. and Dirksen counters with a series of strikes. Jones will be more careful next time no doubt. Dirksen looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range. Dirksen is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Dirksen looks to land a left hand but Jones moved out of range nicely. Dirksen tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jones blocks a jab.

Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dirksen throws out the jab. Jones on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Jones slips a jab from Dirksen. Dirksen tries to land a leg kick but Jones saw it coming and moves away.

Dirksen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dirksen lands in his opponent's guard. Dirksen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Dirksen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dirksen has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dirksen throws a big right hand that misses. Dirksen throws a strike but Jones rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Dirksen trying to strike off his back.

Dirksen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Dirksen throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Dirksen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Dirksen throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jones escapes and throws Dirksen's legs to the side, diving into side control! The ground and pound from Jones seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Ooooh, that looks tight… Jones is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jones and Dirksen has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jason Dirksen. Well Dirksen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
