Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bryn Argue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bryn Argue had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 157.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Cole! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cole is defended easily by Argue. Argue looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Cole tries to clinch but Argue is having none of it. Cole tries to score a power double leg takedown but Argue sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cole somewhat. Cole fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Argue avoids it really well and circles away. Bryn Argue has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Cole. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cole tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cole shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Argue defends it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cole closes the distance and clinches up with Argue, looking for a takedown. Cole pushes Argue against the cage but Argue circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cole circles away from the clinch attempt.
Argue shoots and misses and Cole counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Argue scores with a one two! Cole had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Argue lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Cole content to stall in guard here. Cole has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Argue working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cole. Cole scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Argue preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Cole lands a couple of digs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cole looks to land a combination but Argue avoids it well. Cole shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Argue counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cole wriggles free and stands up. Cole shoots in and bounces Argue off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cole trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cole throwing strikes from guard but Argue blocks nicely. Cole trying to control but Argue is working from the bottom. Argue working for a triangle but Cole defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Cole shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Argue's guard. Argue doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Argue is working an open guard so Cole takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Cole with a poor takedown and Argue counters with a single leg into guard. Cole didn't expect that. Cole working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Argue doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Argue manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Cole wants to sweep here but Argue controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Argue is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cole is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cole has escaped and now he's on top! Cole throws a strike but Argue rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Argue trying to control but Cole is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Cole is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Cole manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Argue manages to get himself to full guard.
Argue keeping moving, preventing Cole from controlling successfully. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cole chips away with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Ben Cole will probably get the nod - 10:9. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Cole thows a body shot but no joy. Cole closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Cole passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Argue! Argue can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cole pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Argue sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Cole winds up and cracks Argue with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Argue looking for submissions off his back. Cole trying to control the pace. Argue has hold of Cole's hands but Cole slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Argue has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cole is working away from the top position though. Cole is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Argue is just riding it out for now. Cole eventually gives up the hold. Cole is trying to control the action in half guard but Argue is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cole is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Cole working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Cole wants to control but Argue is keeping him busy. Cole works his way into side control. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
