2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Benevidi! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Benevidi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Zhilin. Zhilin fails to land the takedown. Zhilin is looking to clinch but Benevidi is avoiding it.

Benevidi is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Zhilin had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Benevidi with a jab. Benevidi smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A jab lands there for Benevidi. Benevidi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zhilin was covering up waiting for the punch and Benevidi finishes the takedown easily into guard. Benevidi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Benevidi scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Zhilin wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Benevidi is now in half guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Benevidi decides to stand and escape the position. Benevidi slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Benevidi lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Zhilin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Zhilin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Zhilin looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Zhilin looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Zhilin is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Benevidi. Jake Benevidi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Benevidi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Zhilin doesn't seem bothered though. Good exchange - Benevidi coming out on top. Zhilin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Benevidi counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Decent striking displayed by Benevidi there.
