The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Velazquez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velazquez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Bjj keeping moving, preventing Velazquez from controlling successfully.

Velazquez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Velazquez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Bjj is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Velazquez is aware though and is defending well.

Bjj had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Velazquez defends it easily.
Velazquez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Velazquez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bjj's half guard.

Velazquez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
