The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMurder misses with a series of wild punches.
A jab lands there for Cruise.
McMurder tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cruise was well out of range. Poor timing from McMurder.
McMurder throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McMurder misses with a straight right.
McMurder blocks a low kick nicely.
McMurder uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cruise.
McMurder lands a high kick!
It looks like Christian Cruise has been cut.
Cruise throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McMurder throws a right and a left that Cruise avoids nicely.
Christian Cruise seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruise takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Cruise lands with a thumping leg kick.
Cruise tries to bum rush McMurder with a series of wild strikes but McMurder uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McMurder fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cruise manages to avoid it.
A big left from Cruise misses.

Cruise is looking to land body kicks.
McMurder looks to throw the jab but Cruise is out of range.
Cruise throws a series of punches but McMurder moves out of range.
McMurder misses with a wild body shot.
McMurder will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McMurder shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cruise manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Cruise wants to stand up but McMurder is controlling him.
Cruise looks gassed!
Cruise utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McMurder stands and throws Cruise's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Cruise really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McMurder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
McMurder remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Cruise is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, McMurder asserts his dominance and retains side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cruise can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cruise is not content to let McMurder control the position.
McMurder landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Cruise on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

McMurder is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cruise will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
