The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reddman misses with a looping right. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rodriguez is defended easily by Reddman. LaShawn Reddman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Some wild striking there from Reddman.
Rodriguez dives in and grabs Reddman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reddman pushes down on Rodriguez's head and hops out. Reddman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Rodriguez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Rodriguez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reddman's head. Rodriguez is trying to work for a kimura but Reddman is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rodriguez prevents Reddman from improving his position. Rodriguez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Rodriguez is trying to control. Reddman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Reddman is trying to stand back up but Rodriguez is controlling him
Rodriguez seems to be looking for submissions.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Reddman stuffs the takedown. A combination from Reddman does no damage. Horrible takedown by Rodriguez or perhaps it was just good defense by Reddman which made him look bad. Reddman cracks Rodriguez with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Rodriguez looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Reddman finish him?
It looks like Matt Rodriguez has been cut. A jab from Reddman finds it's way through Rodriguez's defenses.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rodriguez shoots in and drives through. Reddman sprawls well. Oh Rodriguez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Rodriguez circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Reddman. Rodriguez falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Reddman!
