Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kaiden Maddox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Canton! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maddox misses with a head kick.
Maddox looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Canton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Canton won't allow Maddox to sweep him here. Canton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Maddox with a poor takedown so Canton counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Canton wants to control from the top but Maddox keeps moving. Canton advances to half guard. Canton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Maddox is just riding it out for now. Canton eventually gives up the hold. Canton controlling the action here. Canton is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Maddox on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Maddox tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Canton is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Maddox sees it coming and defends easily. Canton takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Canton is keen to just control but Maddox is a slippery customer. Canton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Maddox has managed to free his arm - good work. Canton wants to control but Maddox is keeping him busy. Canton keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Canton seems to be working for a kimura but Maddox defends the submission attempt. Canton stands up and beckons Maddox to join him on the feet. Canton closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Maddox did well to prevent Canton getting side control. Maddox pushes Canton off looking to stand but Canton dives back in and keeps control.
Maddox really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Canton wants to work for an arm triangle but Maddox is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Canton maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Maddox could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Canton has cracked it and Maddox is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Canton!
