Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andreas Schankelies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andreas Schankelies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Lesner!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesner tries to clinch but Schankelies is having none of it.
Lesner looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Lesner shoots in for a takedown but Schankelies shows good takedown defense.
Lesner stuffs the takedown.
Schankelies with a poor takedown
and Lesner makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Schankelies misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andreas Schankelies. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Schankelies misses with a body shot.
Lesner fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Schankelies looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Lesner connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Schankelies counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Schankelies stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Schankelies tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lesner changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Schankelies looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Lesner grinds an elbow into Schankelies's temple.
Schankelies wants to control but Lesner postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Schankelies is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lesner is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Schankelies manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Schankelies slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Schankelies looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Schankelies working a defensive guard here.
Schankelies wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Lesner is now in half guard.
Schankelies is trying to maintain the position but Lesner is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lesner is thwarting Schankelies's attempts to control the position.
Schankelies is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Lesner jumps into side control!
Schankelies is pushing Lesner's head away, looking to escape. Lesner manages to hold on to the position though.
Lesner tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Schankelies tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lesner wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Schankelies can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Schankelies fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Lesner is out of range.

Lesner has closed the distance and engaged Schankelies in a clinch.
Schankelies is trying to break free.
Lesner wants a takedown but no success here.
Schankelies goes for a takedown attempt but Lesner pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Schankelies tries to clinch up but Lesner circles away and keeps his distance.

Schankelies shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Schankelies sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Schankelies wants to stand but Lesner is controlling his posture from full guard.

Schankelies gets to his feet - Lesner follows without any prompting.

Lesner misses with a takedown

and Schankelies counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Schankelies.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Schankelies.
Lesner goes for a takedown attempt but Schankelies pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Schankelies gets a clinch.
Schankelies stalling.
Schankelies gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

Lesner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Lesner counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Schankelies trying to hold on to Lesner's head to control him but Lesner postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Andreas Schankelies will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Lesner fails to land the takedown.
Schankelies tries to clinch up but Lesner circles away and keeps his distance.

so Schankelies counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Lesner has his foot on Schankelies's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Schankelies works his way back into a safe position though.
Lesner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Lesner blocks the strikes from Schankelies.
Schankelies wants to improve his position but Lesner is controlling well.
Lesner is breathing heavily.
Schankelies trying to control but Lesner postures up.

Schankelies wants to control but Lesner is keeping busy and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Schankelies pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Schankelies looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lesner is fending him off so far but Schankelies persists. Nope, Lesner circles away and we're back to standing.

Schankelies wants to sweep here but Lesner controlling him for the moment.
Schankelies is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Schankelies keeping full guard, as Lesner tries to pass.
Lesner trying to control but Schankelies is working from the bottom.
Schankelies has Lesner pulled in close to control his posture.
Schankelies not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Schankelies will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Schankelies manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Schankelies wants to control the pace but Lesner is squirming around nicely.

Schankelies looking to control but Lesner is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
You get the feeling that Lesner really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Schankelies throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Lesner tries to lock up and control but Schankelies gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Schankelies tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Lesner slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Schankelies stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lesner to get to his feet.

Schankelies bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Schankelies cracks Lesner with an elbow. That is naaassty.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Schankelies will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lesner lands a jab-cross combination.
Lesner gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Schankelies counters with a one-two to the body.

Schankelies gets the takedown into side control.
Schankelies works to advance to full mount. Lesner defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lesner is squirming around, avoiding Schankelies's attempts to control the action.

Lesner is in trouble now - Schankelies has advanced to mount!
Schankelies lands a nice shot to the head.
Lesner takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lesner keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Schankelies breaks from Lesner's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Schankelies works his way to his opponent's back.
Schankelies tries to keep control of the position but Lesner is staying busy.
Schankelies slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Schankelies wants to control but Lesner is keeping busy.
Lesner looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Lesner staying busy and making it hard for Schankelies to control.
I really don't envy Lesner right now.
Lesner is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Schankelies wants to control the position but Lesner frees himself and scrambles - Schankelies manages to regain control in side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Lesner gets the takedown into side control.

Schankelies holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Schankelies sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Lesner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Schankelies keeps working.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lesner in particular looking to stall.
Schankelies manages to get to full guard.

Schankelies has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lesner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lesner passes Schankelies's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Schankelies has one foot on Lesner's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Schankelies fails with the takedown
and Lesner counters with a stiff right hand.

Lesner avoids the body shot from Schankelies.
Schankelies is looking to clinch.
Lesner pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lesner misses with a takedown
and Schankelies counters with a big head kick but Lesner shrugs it off.
Schankelies misses with a series of wild punches.

Lesner forces Schankelies back against the cage and clinches.
Schankelies tries a knee to the head but Lesner blocks it.
Schankelies has had enough of the clinch but Lesner keeps him there for the moment.

Schankelies is fighting off a takedown attempt but Lesner is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Schankelies to the mat. Schankelies regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Schankelies is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Schankelies is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Andreas Schankelies.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Schankelies, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
