PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shaq Oneil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Killer Kowalski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shaq Oneil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Killer Kowalski!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalski's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Kowalski duly obliges.
Oneil fails with the takedown.
Oneil tries to clinch there but Kowalski circles away.
Oneil looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Oneil shoots for a takedown but Kowalski saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Oneil misses with a head kick.

Kowalski drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kowalski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oneil. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Oneil is not content to let Kowalski control the position.

Kowalski tries for a kimura but Oneil is defending well.
Kowalski throws an elbow but Oneil slips to the side and avoids it well.

Kowalski is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Kowalski misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Kowalski remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Oneil is trying to control Kowalski's posture but Kowalski avoids it.

Kowalski decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Oneil shoots in for a takedown but Kowalski shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shaq Oneil. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Oneil buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kowalski pushes Oneil away with a front kick.

Oneil tries to buck Kowalski off but Kowalski is having none of it.
Oneil is breathing heavily.

Kowalski decides to stand back up.

Oneil feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kowalski wants to stand but Oneil is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kowalski wants to sweep but no luck.
Oneil slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oneil is fighting to break Kowalski's control of his arms but Kowalski is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Oneil forces his way into half guard.
Oneil passes to side control.
Oneil working the head and body with strikes.

Oneil decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Kowalski fails with the takedown

and Oneil counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kowalski's guard now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kowalski wants to stand and escape but Oneil is having none of it.
Oneil stands and throws Kowalski's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Killer Kowalski will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Oneil sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Kowalski to the ground! Oneil dives into full mount looking to finish!


Kowalski is rocked!


It looks like Killer Kowalski has been cut.
Oneil fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Kowalski is still in real trouble! Can Oneil finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!

Oneil swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kowalski is now in Oneil's guard. A big mistake from Oneil there, giving up the dominant position!

Oneil looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kowalski is one step ahead there.

Kowalski postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Oneil is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kowalski, into his guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Oneil stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kowalski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Oneil gets to his feet. Kowalski looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Oneil doesn't manage to clinch there - Kowalski circles away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Oneil decides to stand back up. Oneil steps back and let's Kowalski get back to his feet.
Kowalski shoots in but Oneil avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Kowalski counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Oneil moves into range and clinches up with Kowalski.

Kowalski can't break the clinch.
Oneil is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kowalski pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Kowalski has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Oneil clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Oneil rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Oneil wants to control but Kowalski is keeping busy.
Oneil is refusing to be controlled, as Kowalski sits in half guard.

Kowalski trying to control the pace.
Kowalski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oneil keeps working.
Kowalski slows the pace down in half guard.
Oneil makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Oneil.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kowalski slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaq Oneil dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Killer Kowalski's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Oneil. No joy for Kowalski on that attempt.
Oneil lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Oneil is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Oneil is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kowalski doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Oneil.

Oneil is figuring out what he wants to do next.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kowalski is looking to control Oneil's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kowalski avoid being mounted?
Kowalski works his way to full guard. Good work.

Kowalski has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Kowalski kicks Oneil off and gets to his feet.
Kowalski rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Oneil moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Oneil gets a clinch.

Kowalski drags the fight down to the ground.

Kowalski pushes Oneil off and scrambles back to his feet.
Kowalski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Oneil tries to avoid it but Kowalski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Oneil to the ground. Oneil escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kowalski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Killer Kowalski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kowalski has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
