Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mac Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Smith!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Smith.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Hansen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hansen throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Smith throws a series of punches but Hansen moves out of range.
Hansen lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
It looks like Bob Smith has been cut.
Hansen lunges at Smith with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Smith's hand.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Smith looks for a takedown but Hansen sprawls well.
Smith dives in and grabs Hansen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hansen pushes down on Smith's head and hops out.
Mac Hansen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Smith.

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Smith is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hansen is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hansen has escaped and now he's on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith has his foot on Hansen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hansen works his way back into a safe position though.
Hansen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hansen lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Hansen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Hansen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Hansen is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Smith to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Smith shrugs it off.

Smith slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hansen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Smith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hansen!

Hansen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hansen gets slowly back to his feet.

Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hansen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hansen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Smith is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Hansen to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hansen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hansen stands up from Smith's guard - Hansen perhaps looking for a knockout.
Smith shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hansen counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Smith is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Hansen wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hansen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hansen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Hansen looks to land a combination. Smith sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hansen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hansen fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Hansen pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Hansen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hansen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it.

and Hansen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

You can see the frustration on Smith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mac Hansen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Smith has control of Hansen's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hansen regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hansen is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Smith's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Well Hansen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
