Trep has chosen Sandstorm as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Pete Trep has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Paolo Souza's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Pete Trep has been cut.
Trep connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
The fighters circle momentarily. Souza darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Trep pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Souza throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Souza fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Trep sprawls well initially but Souza persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Trep is looking for a sweep. Souza is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Souza prevents Trep from standing back up.
Well, if Souza is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Trep wants to get back to his feet.
Trep taking some punishment here, with Souza in his half guard.
Souza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Souza working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Souza wants to pass to mount but Trep is defending the position.

That has opened up Pete Trep's cut even more.
Souza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Trep is just riding it out for now. Souza eventually gives up the hold.

Souza wants to control but Trep is keeping him busy.
Souza lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Trep is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Souza scores with a couple of nice shots.
Trep is looking to get back to is feet but Souza passes into side control.
Souza lands a nice forearm strike.
Souza has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Trep is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Souza yanks on the arm and Trep is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Souza.
