Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay West! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacob Kain! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kain throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around West's waist but West gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kain off to one side. West gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. West working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kain. West preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. West wants to stand but Kain is controlling the position. West trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Kain thows a big elbow that misses. Kain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kain throws a strike but West rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. West looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Kain is working an open guard so West takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from West as Kain shoots in. West is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kain. Kain fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Jay West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Kain. West throws a right and a left that both miss. West tests Kain's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Jacob Kain has been cut. West fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kain. Kain shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Kain looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. West leaves Kain with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. West fails to land with a series of punches.
Kain shoots in and drives through. West sprawls well. Kain showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from West.
West tries to bum rush Kain with a series of wild strikes but Kain uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Kain shoots in but no luck this time. West closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Kain out cold! Kain corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jay West!
