The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turtchin leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Johnson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Turtchin did well to prevent Johnson getting side control. Turtchin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Turtchin tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control. Johnson seems to be working for a kimura but Turtchin defends the submission attempt. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Turtchin throws a right and a left that Johnson avoids nicely. Johnson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Turtchin tries to kick Johnson off but Johnson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Johnson is trying to control. Turtchin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Turtchin is in trouble now - Johnson has advanced to mount! Johnson prevents Turtchin from getting the reversal. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Turtchin is squirming around, avoiding Johnson's attempts to control the action. Johnson is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Turtchin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Turtchin! Johnson is breathing heavily. Johnson stands and throws Turtchin's legs to the side, diving into side control. Johnson looks up at the clock and then as Turtchin takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Johnson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Turtchin throws a right and a left that Johnson avoids nicely. Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Turtchin's waist but Turtchin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Turtchin misses with the combination.
Turtchin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rodrigo Turtchin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Johnson. Turtchin slaps away a takedown attempt from Johnson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Johnson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Turtchin avoids it really well and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Johnson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Turtchin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Turtchin swinging wildly here.

Turtchin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Turtchin displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
