Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kublai Congo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sir Brunswick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Congo comes to the cage accompanied by Beds are Burning. The crowd seem to be enjoying Brunswick's choice of entrance music: Welcome to the TerrorDome. Sir Brunswick will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sir Brunswick!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brunswick keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A head kick misses from Brunswick.

Congo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Brunswick is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Congo trying to control the action but Brunswick is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Congo is working for a submission of some sort.
Brunswick is not content to let Congo control the position.

Congo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brunswick defends it well.
Congo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Brunswick takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


It looks like Sir Brunswick has been cut.

Congo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brunswick is looking to escape.
Brunswick is looking to improve his position but Congo isn't that keen on the idea.

Brunswick defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Congo.

Brunswick holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Congo tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Congo is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Brunswick is surviving well by controlling Congo's body position as best he can.

Congo is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Brunswick has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Brunswick!
Congo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brunswick slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Congo manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Brunswick throws a series of punches but Congo moves out of range.
Congo lands with a good body shot.
Brunswick misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Congo shoots for a takedown but Brunswick saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Brunswick throws a hook but Congo blocks it.
Brunswick lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Brunswick throws a front kick aimed at Congo's knee but Congo avoids it well.
Brunswick throws a leg kick but Congo sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Congo stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Brunswick.
Congo tries to bum rush Brunswick with a series of wild strikes but Brunswick uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Some bone on bone action there as Congo checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Congo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Brunswick checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and Congo counters with a takedown into side control.

Congo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brunswick, who protects the arm well.
Brunswick wants to control but Congo postures up.

Congo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Brunswick rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Congo's guard! Nice work there by Brunswick!
Congo wants to sweep but no luck.
Brunswick must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Congo looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Brunswick has picked Congo up and slammed him! Congo can't keep hold of the triangle and Brunswick manages to pass to side control!
Brunswick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Congo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Congo sneaks back into half guard.
Congo moves into full guard.

Congo is trying to keep Brunswick in close.

Congo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brunswick gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Brunswick postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Congo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brunswick can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Congo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Brunswick escapes and throws Congo's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Brunswick throws a nice inside leg kick.
Brunswick uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Congo.
Brunswick takes a swing at Congo's ribcage but misses.
Brunswick throws a leg kick
and Congo counters with a nice uppercut.
Brunswick thumps Congo with a low kick.
Congo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brunswick moves away.

and Congo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Brunswick walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Congo checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Congo shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Congo dodges the punch combination from Brunswick.
Congo lands with a straight right. Brunswick didn't see that one coming.
Congo scores with a sloppy right hand. Brunswick should have avoided that one.

and Congo counters with a left and a right that stings Brunswick.
Congo avoids the head kick by Brunswick.
Brunswick is looking to score with low kicks.

Congo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Congo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Brunswick has managed to free his arm - good work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Congo looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Congo wants to control but Brunswick is keeping him busy.

Congo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brunswick's head.
Congo throws a strike but Brunswick avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brunswick can do anything to dispel that myth.

Congo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Brunswick dives on top into guard.

Brunswick avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kublai Congo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brunswick trying to control but Congo is working from the bottom.

Congo wants to sweep here but Brunswick controlling him for the moment.
Brunswick tries to free his leg and advance position but Congo is retaining full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Brunswick won't allow Congo to sweep him here.
Congo wants to control but Brunswick passes easily into half guard.
Brunswick is trying to control. Congo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Brunswick tries to buck Congo off but Congo is having none of it.

Congo in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Brunswick is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
