PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Axel Van Dam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Dam comes into the arena with Beatdown - Gunman Joe blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins slaps away a takedown attempt from Van Dam, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Van Dam ducks under a wild hook from Jenkins.
Van Dam throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jenkins's waist but Jenkins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Van Dam off to one side.

Van Dam swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jenkins is now in Van Dam's guard. A big mistake from Van Dam there, giving up the dominant position!

Van Dam has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jenkins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Van Dam has control of Jenkins's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jenkins regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Van Dam goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jenkins turns into him and now he's in Van Dam's guard.

Van Dam looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jenkins has picked Van Dam up and slammed him! Van Dam can't keep hold of the triangle and Jenkins manages to pass to side control!
Jenkins remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jenkins in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Van Dam is looking for a sweep. Jenkins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Van Dam is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jenkins's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jenkins's back!

Van Dam is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jenkins defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
