PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stepan Ivanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danni Deadbone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivanov comes to the cage accompanied by Star. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deadbone throws a head kick that misses.
Ivanov closes the distance and clinches up with Deadbone, looking for a takedown. Ivanov pushes Deadbone against the cage but Deadbone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Deadbone lands a big head kick that sends Ivanov tumbling to the mat! Deadbone takes a step backwards and waves Ivanov back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Stepan Ivanov has been cut.

Ivanov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ivanov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Deadbone can't escape the position.

Ivanov has control of Deadbone's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Deadbone regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ivanov trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Ivanov moves to the back.

Deadbone tries to roll but Ivanov sticks to his back.
Deadbone is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Deadbone tries to roll but Ivanov sticks to his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Deadbone controlling his opponent's hands, preventing the submission attempt.

Deadbone controls Ivanov momentarily but Ivanov frees himself.
Ivanov slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Ivanov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Deadbone is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ivanov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Deadbone is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Ivanov taking a break here but Deadbone is having none of it and regains half guard.

A close round but Danni Deadbone will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ivanov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Deadbone tries to avoid it but Ivanov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Deadbone to the ground. Deadbone escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Deadbone misses with a low kick.

Deadbone shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ivanov napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ivanov parries the strikes from Deadbone easily there. Deadbone is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Ivanov to escape.
Ivanov takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ivanov wants to control but Deadbone postures up.

Deadbone decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ivanov could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Deadbone lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ivanov's sensitive parts.
Deadbone is looking to clinch.
Deadbone misses with a head kick.
Deadbone tries to close the distance and clinch but Ivanov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Deadbone has closed the distance and engaged Ivanov in a clinch.
Ivanov wants a takedown.

Deadbone has Ivanov pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Deadbone pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ivanov tumbling to the mat - Deadbone dives into Ivanov's guard.
Deadbone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ivanov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Deadbone distracts Ivanov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Deadbone is trying to land a reversal but Ivanov doesn't like that idea too much. He pushed the legs to the side and dives into side control. He's managed to grab a loose arm triangle. Ivanov is tightening it up though! This could be trouble for Deadbone! Deadbone trying desperately to escape but he's gone limp! He's out! Wooooorld class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Ivanov!
