PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Latham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sadji Nosla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Latham's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Frontier Psychiatrist - The Avalanches. Sadji Nosla will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Latham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sadji Nosla!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Latham shoots in for a takedown but Nosla shows good takedown defense.
Latham will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nosla connects with a high kick.
Nosla is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Latham fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nosla sprawls well initially but Latham persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Latham wants to free his trapped foot but Nosla is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Nosla tries to kick Latham off but Latham keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Nosla kicks off Latham and gets to his feet.
Latham shoots in for a takedown but Nosla shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Latham. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nosla throws a sloppy head kick and Latham moves out of range easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Latham tries for a takedown but Nosla sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nosla misses with a double jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nosla leaves Latham with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nosla slaps away a takedown attempt from Latham, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Latham looks for a takedown but Nosla sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sadji Nosla dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Latham throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nosla's waist but Nosla gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Latham off to one side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Latham blocks a head kick by Nosla.

A head kick misses from Nosla.
Nosla swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nice sprawl there from Nosla as Latham shoots in.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Latham.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Latham. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Nosla.

Latham tries for a takedown but Nosla sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nosla tries a head kick but it misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nosla lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
No luck for Latham with that takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nosla throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sadji Nosla showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Latham will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nosla throws a right hand that Latham ducks under and follows up with a left that Latham also avoids with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nosla throws a head kick that misses.

Nosla throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
No joy there for Nosla, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Latham avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Latham darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Latham missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Latham is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Nosla is trying to stand back up but Latham is controlling him

Latham is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nosla defends it well.
Nosla wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Latham is pressing down on Nosla's thigh, looking to free his foot. Nosla is holding on for now.

Latham is looking for a kimura but Nosla is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Latham to get the leverage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nosla pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Latham scores with a takedown into Nosla's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Latham clearly takes that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Nosla misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Nosla will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nosla throws a nice head kick!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nosla keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Nosla throws a head kick that misses.
Mark Latham has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Nosla throws the kick towards the body but Latham avoids it.
No joy there for Nosla, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Latham is defended easily by Nosla.
Latham shoots in looking for a takedown. Nosla tries to sprawl out of it but Latham keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nosla manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sadji Nosla comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nosla has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
